Jaws677 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 On seeding times - it took me 7min to cross the start line. Next year I will start in C Barry Stuart 1
Stretch Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Reegan Alward. She is on the hub strava group. I ran with her for a while on Sunday. What a nice girl. She has given her side of the story on Facebook. I had almost the exact same thing happen to me. I gave away my wally Hayward marathon entry for free to someone that I have never met before in my life. He didnt complete the subtition process as I was getting race results and notifications from Jetline action photos. He almost ran a better seeding time than I had in which case I would have informed the comrades association. Luckily I'm just a nobody unlike Reegan who is hard to miss No I'll intent I'm sure.. But still illegal... And as she says she is happy to have the consequences.. Which appears to be a 2 year ban from 2 oceans

She should have just told the truth as well. Edited June 15, 2018 by Jaws677 Barry Stuart 1

candz1 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Thanks man...flip I hope so. Struggling with a tear in the meniscus and small bakers cyst so hobbling a little..bleh!
Reegan Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I see Reegan made the news, oeps.... Surely something explainable? Yeah, I am one of the creepy daily watchers of this forum but not really much of a poster as I learn more from the forum than I can offer! But yes I made the news this morning, fault of my own but will wait and see what comes of it. The committee will have to punish someone to set a president and if it's me I'm okay with that. Just a bit sad the way it has all happened when there really was no bad intentions behind the whole thing Jaws677, shaper, b-rad and 7 others 10
amr63 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 (edited) I admire your integrity Reegan. I hope the consequences of your ‘transgression’ are as fair & transparent as you appear to have been. Edited June 15, 2018 by amr63

But I hope not. At least you know what not to do on the future!
Frosty Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I'd love to see him try and explain to CMA how at his best in the past 10 months he was only able to achieve a 5min /km pace yet on race day after running 70km he was able to achieve a 3:49 pace. I foresee a lifetime ban on the horizon comingInhaler? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

b-rad Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 I hope this is not the same runner I saw while marshalling at Irene Ultra. A runner blatantly got out a car at about 35km (a mere 100m from where I was marshalling) and joined the run. I think he ran part of the run, got in a car and then got dropped off later. Did not get his number so cannot tell who he was but at the time I was shocked to see something like that happen.Have heard about a person seen cutting a massive corner (section) out on Soweto Marathon by going down an embankment and cutting across to another part of the course. I'm not familiar with that particular course though. It's a shame when people do that to qualify or improve seedings.
b-rad Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 So I have a friend or two that have posted a few things about the rubbish left after comrades and how bad it actually is. It is disgusting actually. What are your thoughts on the #Icarrymyown campaign, basically have tanks with taps at water stations and you carry a cup or bottle to refill along the way, not litter, no plastic waste.Carry a cup like this:https://www.salomon.com/int/product/soft-cup-speed-150ml-5oz.html?article=393899 I know KZN Trail running is moving to no plastic cups and no bags of water how long till the big races follow? There is no excuse for throwing rubbish onto the road or even worse lobbing rubbish into drainage ditches or miles into the roadside bushes. Assuming there are sufficient numbers of bins spaced a suitable distance from tables if a runner is seen littering race organisers need to start with on the spot disqualification. Simple as that Stretch 1
