I find the adidas more comfortable than nikes. I have a wide feet, and need that extra width.

It is a pair of trail running shoes that walked all over, and that was used to run 2 km!!

Two thing:

1. Tailwind. I do not use it as extensively as Dave, I presume. But I just chuck some in my water bottle and run. Had a variety bag a while ago and just tried the "non flavored" version the other day - and first time ever somebody got that right! Caffeinated or not depends on yourself - I use both.

2. After last week's talking about the Nikes, I walked into their Canal Walk store over the weekend to see the Zoom Fly SP on bigger special than on their online store - 1800-odd. So for that price I had to try it. If anybody else is interested... Weeeeird semi-transparent upper.

That's why the specific reference to the Zoom Fly Flyknit. They are the 2nd gen of the shoe, and a lot of the reason for the appeal. The new Nike Flyknit is a great upper, it is light, breathable and supportive.

It is worth seeing if you can exchange the SP's for the flyknit.

Whaaaaat? What Adidas shoes are you in that they feel wide? I find Adidas tend to run very narrow and about half a size smaller than my usual shoe. Still, the Bostons and Adios are great short distance shoes (though I did see some guys running the Adios at Comrades).

How was Sunday's run? Looked like a brute of a course but Janine is running brilliantly, man.

Hi Guys

I have 2 pairs of road running shoes, they've done just about enough to warrant new shoes, ie around 800km's

What do you guys do with those?  I generally try and keep the last pair to use casually, but the cupboard is getting a little full?  Feel wrong to donate it to the garbage bin?

There are organisations that take second hand shots and donate them to communities. Ask at your local running shop....or even at your local park run.

I used to stop running in shoes once I got to 1000km.. But my last Brookes and ASICS are now on 1500. I only use them for short runs (less than 12km) and then use a new pair for longer runs. The ASICS are now done.. But that's a fair bit of extra mileage I got out of them. I'm still rotating 4 pairs but the one is gonna go to the bin now (there's no donation option here)

Agreed, Adidas is one of the narrowest I have tried.

Donate to the homeless guy at the traffic light rather than the bin.

By now even my garden engineer’s cupboards are full of running shoes [emoji23]

It was a good training run and always a great early season tester. Course isn't tough if you know what to expect and have a race plan to suit.

She wasn't feeling great and still toughed it out for a PB, which was incidental. It is just a piece in the puzzle for June. Her legs felt good and she had no stiffness afterwards. Lots of strength training off the road in the next 3 months.

We running Garbies @ 4:45's if you and Jess are keen.

Yeah, it was clear neither of you were going guns blazing, you both looked far too relaxed at the 12km mark.

I might be keen to join you. Jess is going to run Akasia the following week, though, and see if she can sneak in under 3:20 whilst keeping it steady. She's not going to taper for it so it might well be good practice for her to run Garbies at that pace. I'll check with her if she wants to do that or if she feels it would jeopardise Akasia too much (all about getting her confidence up at this stage).

I am really not an expert on this, but I fail to see where the "energy" comes from with tailwind.  I can wrap my head around where it comes from when eating potatoes or food, but looking at this nutritional info, compared to Hammer Endurolytes fizz and capsules that we use for electrolytes replacements, it shows that I don't understand this stuff as I fail to see where it comes in when I compare them.

In fact Hammer fizz beats tailwind in most of the ingredients, but yet it has 10 calories and tailwind 100 per serving?

What? Not a good few years for her then. Seems like Charne as well?

Meanwhile Gerda is running 3.23/km tempo runs. Comrades is going to be an epic battle between her, Camille and Ann. Camille winning of course.
