Chris_ Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 What I really REEEEALLY want, is for 'drinks guy' to come back and be part of the attempt! Ronniek, shaper, ScottCM and 4 others 7
Mudsimus Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 I hope it's at an official marathon. While I liked the first attempt and the story and the hype....I want it to be broken naturally and for the time to count Edit. Snap!I can't see it happening in an official marathon. So many factors will have to be absolutely perfect. Weather, pacers etc.  Just the thought that they need a team of pacers running relay just to keep up with Kipchoge is insane.

Largely it is suggested barriers are mental to a point, so I think it helps a lot that he believes himself that it's possible. And the Nike attempt goes some way towards helping that mentality too...Very interesting times

He will need some really special Nikes. Apparently he didn't run his world record in the 4%. That time last year he was already using prototypes for the Next%. Makes you wonder what Nike will come up for this attempt. Lexx 1
Jewbacca Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 the new Nike X%..... Where YOU are the variable! Be the best variable you can be.... Just Do It! Lexx 1
Barry Stuart Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 If he runs barefoot on a ketogenic diet he'll do a 1:49. Andrew Steer and jdwet1980 2
Frosty Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Quick question to those that know...How quick do the entries for the Soweto Marathon/Half fill up? Weeks or months?
gifs Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 If he runs barefoot on a ketogenic diet he'll do a 1:49. Only if he adds CrossFit® three times a week. Barry Stuart 1
Chris_ Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Quick question to those that know... How quick do the entries for the Soweto Marathon/Half fill up? Weeks or months? I thought it was days(?) But don't take my word for it Frosty 1
Jaws677 Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Quick question to those that know... How quick do the entries for the Soweto Marathon/Half fill up? Weeks or months?I think last year it was within days. But for next year they are expanding to 40k entrants. No thanks Andrew Steer and Frosty 2
Mudsimus Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Only if he adds CrossFit® three times a week. And change to a vegan diet. ????
Mudsimus Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 I think last year it was within days. But for next year they are expanding to 40k entrants. No thanksYeah same here. I already booked accommodation for this year. But changed my mind when I saw that. 40000 up from 15 000 last year? A logistical mess in the making.
Stretch Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Yeah same here. I already booked accommodation for this year. But changed my mind when I saw that. 40000 up from 15 000 last year? A logistical mess in the making. If I recall last year also the first couple of tables didn't even exist. The volunteers just took the cokes and buggered off

A logistical mess in the making. These days I just can't stand overcrowding at these road races, along with the inconsiderate motorists and sharing 5 porta loos with a the other runners... Next week I'm doing a trail race in Drakensberg. I expect there won't be more than 60-70 running on the day. Heaven. Ronniek, Andrew Steer and ScottCM 3
Frosty Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Being a new runner, almost every race is new experience for me. The only one I've done twice is the Colgate (15Km) and this year I started close to the front, so that I don't have to dodge all the walkers and slower joggers that also hog the front. I've entered the (Soweto) half, today, so I can at least add it to the list of events I've done. Once is more than enough for me, unless I have a memorable event and want to go back again.Â
