Lotus Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 Did anyone here get good deals last year on the Black Friday sales? Which retailers are worth watching? (I'm looking for new road shoes) Hacc 1
Red Robin Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 Damn kids ???? So first I start riding cos they did and they were too small to ride alone and then I found I really enjoyed it.Little buggers are doing cross country for school team again and want to run all the time. In my mind 8 years old is too young to run alone so thinking of trying couch to 5km. Seems a logical programme to start from zero? Any advise? Besides don't have sporty children...... You might even be encouraged to do the 5to10K bridging program after.

Red Robin Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 (edited) Before long you'll be lining up at the start of a marathon [emoji57]Ha ha. I say never but I also said I'd never buy a new bike, ride more than km than the children did or enter any races and that didn't quite work out. Edited November 20, 2019 by Red Robin
Wayne Potgieter Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 Chaps! Need some help. I own a pair of the Sony WH1000XM3's over the ear headphones. I use them for studying and blocking out my wife. Sometimes at the same time - just kidding (in case she reads this and can work out my username). These headphones are great and I totally prefer them over Sennheiser Momentums and my Grado's (I have a thing for good music and headphones) But for running, I have always run in the Bose sound sport wired headphones - But they no longer make them and now everything is wireless. So because my old trusty wired headphones have been damaged, I recently purchased these.... But they are total garbage - too heavy and don't fit right. I also don't like the cord that bounces on my neck the whole time. So, I am essentially in the market for a new pair of running headphones and I am leaning towards the wireless Sony version of the over the ear WH1000xm3 which are called the WF1000xm3 Has anyone bought these? Or does anyone have any suggestions for a good pair of running headphones? I will also be posting this in the running headphones thread in case those weirdo's don't see this post. Pieter1 1
SwissVan Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Running had been growing year on year and is peaking. Event organisers are now trying to make a quick back on the back of the demand. €15 non refundable lottery fee. Comrades with their new admin fee and R200 substitution admin fee over and above the entry fee. Events with no substitutions...... People will start looking for alternative optionsHow do the race entry fees in Ireland/ UK / Europe compare? I don’t do many in switz, but the last marathon I did a few years ago and a few 21’s and triathlons seem expensive and don’t offer anything better than SA (albeit I have not done any in SA since +/- 2012)

Don't run with earphones, it's not safe or considerate.(unless it is on a treadmill) SwissVan 1

SwissVan Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Don't run with earphones, it's not safe or considerate.(unless it is on a treadmill)Ditto, see it so much here. Runners with earphones are oblivious to faster traffic approaching from out of sight I.e. the side and behind. I’ve learnt to give them a wider than normal space when passing them. Generally runners with earphones are placing their own safety in the hands of the other road users, that leaves me feeling a bit uneasy which is why I don’t wear them when riding or running outdoors. Maybe it’s different here in Europe where runners, cyclists and pedestrians all share the same paths which tend to be narrower and have lots of pedestrian and cycle traffic moving in both directions
SwissVan Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 That being said.... I don’t recall seeing or reading of any runners being run over from behind here... but I’m willing to bet there have been lots of close calls#beenthere

I would not run with headphones in RSA. Here in Auckland I run on running paths meant for running only. I stick to the left. There are no cyclists or cars. Also, trail running in a forest with good music is absolutely amazing. Given that there is a huge huge running specific headphone category of products to buy, I am guessing I am not the only one?
