shut up.

My lunch was tuna with olives and home-made mayo. Would have gone brilliantly with a slice of rye toast.

can't shuttup. need to let some of this drool im drowning in dribble out...

i'd lurrrrrrrrrv me some bread right about now :(

avoiding fizzy drinks and sweetened fruit juices will leave enough of a sugar-hole in your diet to cause you withdrawal. So if you can start there and soldier on, you well on your way to success. the rest is about finding less sugary substitutes, and where you can't substitute, its about moderation.

Yeah... It is not easy... But it does get easier with time and when you are used to it that burger once a week or cake at someones birthday or treat now and then doesn't knock you off the wagon, you enjoy it more actually and then quite easily go back to routine.

Those are the times that I feed my soul, the rest of the time I feed my body..

Inspired to give this a try for at least a month starting tomorrow. Because it's the 1st day of the month tomorrow. Gonna miss the coke!

I'm joining you there. I've already increased my training load by 300% (from one ride per week to 3 and some IDT work) and I need to shed this load. Fast.

Best ways to cut out sugar - read ALL LABELS

No sugar in coffee or tea

No yoghurt unless it's greek, or unsweetened (only really WW double cream that has no added sugar)

No choccies (this is moerse difficult though)

No crisps

No sports drinks / coke / fizzy drinks (except blue Monster & beer, or during a race if you absolutely have to have it)

No store-bought sauces (luckily this is something I like to make myself)

And various other things.

With regards to fruit juice....

Avoid it at all costs...

By juicing the fruit, you remove all the fibre and bulk of the product and essentially only keep the sweetened water from the fruit.

For example, if you ate 1 apple, you probably would satisfy your sweet craving and stop eating. But by drinking a glass of apple juice, you are essentially drinking 8 apples (based on a 250ml glass)

one cup of apple juice contains 24g of sugar

to put that in perspective if you had to drink a 500ml of apple juice you would be consuming almost 12 teaspoons of sugar.

I have been doing sugar free drinks for a while now. Just need to get off it completely, and a better diet

what you said somehow reminded me of a study i read some time back, about how artificial sweeteners eventually cause weight increases. It concerns the balance of bacteria in the body that processes food. the sweeteners caused an imbalance in the direction of bacteria that somehow lead to weight gained. The initial assessment was done via observations on humans on a weight loss program, where some didn't use any sugar or sweetener, compared with those using a sweetener. There was a weight gain in the latter group.

The theory of a change in the gut's bacterial population was confirmed in mice, where the researchers completed killed of the 'standard' group of bacteria thus leaving the group which resulted in weight gain.

we always assumed by avoiding the fizzies and giving the kids fruit juices, we were being "good parents"

how wrong we were...

to those that are inspired to try this out for one month....a word of warning.....

The first five days are hell....

then...its awesome.

But those five days as you "withdraw" feel like ***.

BUT TRUST ME, IT IS WORTH IT...

I dunno, If kids are running around like I used to run around as a kid I wouldn't have an issue ha ha
