Jumping the gun a bit as I haven't received my wheels yet, but have read about the known issues with poor braking on carbon rims/pads.

So what is the best pads available to use with Token carbon clinchers ? Price not an issue as I am not going to risk a crash cos of poor braking.

Swissstop Flash Pro Black Prince gets many good reviews. anything better or is this what I should be targeting ?

and I know this has been discussed in the past so sorry for another post. but these things change over time so maybe there is a new top product in the market.

Thanks

You can buy a set from Token as well.

I use Zipp carbon pads but only because I have zipps.

Rather buy R1000 brake pads then to mess up a pair of zipp wheels.

You might already know this but just incase, don't use your carbon pads on ally wheels. It can pick up small pieces of ally in the pad and then when you put your carbon wheels back on it will scratch them six love. Good bye carbon wheels.

Thanks for the info, will remember that.

It's my first set of carbon wheels so need all the advice I can get.

What else shouldn't I do?

Be careful when mounting tyres.

Set your brake pads toe in so they don't squeal.

Clean pad faces and brake track on the wheels regularly.

In the wet, brake 5 seconds early and be careful when the power suddenly comes in

Other than that, it's everything you're used to.

Depending on what colour your pads are don't stress when it leaves marks on your wheels. I have blue pads and it leaves a blue line on my braking surface. It washes off easily. Also luckily my frame has some blue in it[emoji16]

thanks gents !!

Just using 1 topic for the advice. So now onto Tyres.... I will be using the wheels for weekend rides and events, and probably once a week when doing circuits...

Should I stick to Gatorskins for hassle free riding, or would something like the GP4000's be a better option ? Whats the puncture protection like on the GP4000 and is the rolling resistance much better vs the Gatorskins ?

I asked the same question a while back and was recommended the black prince, they are awesome.

+1 on the GP4000

+2 on the GP4000.

In fact, any 25c race tyre feels great on Carbon rims. I've tried these, not disappointed:

- Schwalbe Ultremo ZX 25c (most responsive)

- Continental GP4000 SII 25c (best puncture protection)

- Michelin Pro4 25c (best rolling resistance)
