Just go here: https://tapiriik.com/#

Then create a GC account and it will sync it up with strava, so you can pay for your watch. Mine has been set like this from the start as strava was so unreliable syncing to discovery.

Real non issue.

Dont you need a garmin for a gc account?

Great, so in essence you can exploit the same vulnerabilities in Strava as before, but now it appears to be coming from a Garmin. Wonder what Discovery will do about that? If they cotton on, they might stop support for Garmin, or get Garmin to find a way to block it. Would be peeved if I went and spent R7k on a Garmin to find Discovery drop support for it.

They have to get the data from somewhere. There is a way to screen to data and only allow the heart rate one. Even a way to flag dodgy rides.

Something like KOMDEFENDER.COM

Discovery just need to sort out their apps and IT

IMO, Strava should have a flag that indicates the source of the data and Discovery uses that flag to determine if it will recognize the data.

They are in consultation with the developers, as they said in the press release and radio interviews. Until such time as the data is verifiable, it cannot be used...

I don't understand how this isn't possible. I am by no means a computer guru, but that is one of the most basic aspects of any database - a free field that could be used to distinguish a manual upload.

FWIW, in my circle, The people who will stop using this if appear to be the Average Joe's and Josephines who have taken the simplicity of the system and used it. Disco has the resources to solve this and should not be transferring the responsibility to clients if their intention is to maintain fitness levels and save medical related costs. (Or should have delayed implementation until they found the verifying solution) Unfortunately, it seems to me that the revision is a bit ill-conceived. My 2c. Hope I'm wrong.
