I can't see it being tooooo wet...just a little hour or two drizzle to kill the dust would be nice, I don't want anything heavier than a drizzle...

Team Bike Hub is entered.

Our official team head quarters for the event will be a big Bike Hub gazebo. Despite our highly secretive team tactics (there are 6 of us to coordinate), we're hoping all the Hubbers will come hang out with us at some time during the event. Unfortunately the couch will have to be replaced with camping chairs.

With reference to the nutrition discussion above, seeing as I will be exercising and therefore can eat what I wish, the plan is a strict diet of springbok pies and chocolate steri stumpie.

See you all there!

I feel some sort of homage must be paid to the firefighters at this event.
- grabouw took a huge klap over the weekend, but the oak valley side of the N2 was fine. Now simonsberg is (still) getting torched - and there's loads of trails built and planned there mostly by the organisers of this event. One hell of a week for Meurant, buying him beer won't really be enough I think.

I think the effort Meurant has put in this makes us all look like wimps. And it's not just him - every single firefighter, farm labourer and volunteer deserves an award, a medal, our sincerest thanks, and a lifetime supply of beer. Riding a bike round in circles looks positively easy in comparison!

I know - taking on a 24hr race is like accepting a hero challenge, but this week you can't be the hero! I have a grabouw team mate riding who spent the weekend fighting the fire from his farm and neighbours - might even be able to put some time into him this weekend!

Cobus?

Albert Rust.

The farm Glenbrae is on Valley road and he and his family spent the better part of last week fighting fires, saving old mac daddy's and other significant houses and places.

I don't think Steve will put time into him or his brother Alec (who lives 500m away from the Oak Valley trails. They are both yster

Lekker hot here today. Nice breeze at the start finish, but close to 40 degrees on some of the open climbs. Did a nice leisurely first lap. Looking to start lap 2 at around 5pm. Leaders on 4 laps already. Theres going to be some tired riders later tonight. Now where's my beer assistant?

Hey, I already bought you a beer. Remember to keep the beer/lap ratio right.

It was hot when I was there earlier. And dusty.

A lot can happen out there in the dark single track in the wee hours in the morning.Any youngster calling me oom and shouting track at me is going to get bliksem.

You might see some youngsters coming thru the start/finish in snot & trane so tell them to be polite.

At w2w I called a lady of young age tannie as we went into the Paul Clover Amfiteater. She freaked out.

It is lekker seeing the schools racing so tight again, hopefully they stay neck and neck until the end.

We had a good battle in the fun team category, and should have carried our pace through the night, but had two mechanicals... Third place was still good though.

At least we beat Cycle Lab Tokai :P

Go Cranx Larissa's!

Now I also know who is Velouria.

Damn, I feel a bit overdone.  Sunburnt, hungry and tired.  I had 5 mins sleep.  And I am only part of team support..  Don't know if I will ever have the guts to do 8 laps at least.

I salute all the fighters that did this.  Especially those hard ones that passed me each lap during the early hours of the morning.
