Eish!!! :cursing:  Those trails are way to manicured, if you rode that around here you wouldn’t have any teeth left.

It's about not the equipment you have, it's how you use it ;)

In an event like this where you constantly have fast people coming around passing slower people I don't think they can make it too technical.  That said, its still fun as you just ride fast through the trees by the river, its quite narrow in places.

There were a few nasty crashes, think some people were pushing their boundaries.

That fence bridge at the end of the singletrack by the stream usually catches a few people on their first lap.

The loose berms at the top also had a few victims.

What a great event! (and I'm not just saying that because we were involved)

We put together a strictly fun, social team with the aim of doing a few laps, chilling out and having a few beers in between.

However... after a few laps when Trail Tag had us "winning" the fun category our competitive itches just had to be scratched. Game on.

We still had loads of fun and some beers, though many more steri stumpies were downed.

Great atmosphere on and off the course. Well done to Dane on the solid win.

A huge thanks to Meurant and the Dirtopia team. As if the 24 hours alone wasn't enough he'd be fighting fires in Simonsberg for just about all of last week with little sleep in between.

Meurant and Arina are the best thing that could have happened to MTB'ing in the Western Cape......both such great people and passionate about what they do and life!

Waiting patiently for Velouria's blog post... :)

24hr race reports are so difficult to write. It's usually a rather lonely affair, and if everything goes according to plan, it should be a boring ride of lap after lap after lap. I think the most action I had was trying to avoid those damn frogs at night! I almost connected a tree a few times making amphibian avoidance maneuvers!

But don't worry - I'll come up with something ;)

Did anyone claim the rat? The next lap it was gone, so most people wouldn't know what I'm talking about.

Philip erasmus breaking his hand during the night, putting it in a splint and then walking his bike around the course one handed 8 hours later to register an official finish after noon.

I met Philip in the camp site after the race. Super impressed by his attitude

He's got a big charity ride coming up in April. Hoping he heals up in time for it.
