Possibly.... what I do know is that I roll faster down hills than Eddy.... he blames his tires.... :)

And nobody can accuse me of being a big guy... not anymore.... down to 64 from 96 playing rugby 30 years ago... unfortunately up 1 pants size.... which is REALLY REALLY annoying...

Target weight for Epic - 61....

This thread is not meant for laaitjies????

Is it not time for a December Biggest Loser competition ?

We have all stated our current weight and a little challenge to keep us on the straight and narrow it could be good motivation.

You must be over 90kg to join in and we score on % of bodyweight lost between 1 and 31 December.

I started my "get fit" thing when I hit 120kg in 2011. After 9 months I lost a 3rd of myself (hit 80kg) and since then I have yoyo-ed between 80 and 90kg.

For me the biggest frustration is when I do road ride and I have to constantly apply the brakes while going downhill because the lightweight around me are too slow.

thanks for this buffalo section.......i am also on the bigger side 185cm and 107kg at the moment.....only started cycling recently again after a very difficult year work wise. The problem with me at the moment is that my head is not right , and as soon as i start struggling going up a hill i start looking for an escape rout/plan !!! To keep and stay positive is very difficlut.....

I can totally understand where OP is coming from, I posted a thread on here a few years ago to see what people's height/weight was to see how far off I was.

I have a rugby players build so getting down to fighting weigh on a bike is difficult with the muscle mass.

I found though when I did the banting thing for a year that I also lost a lost of muscle mass, which was interesting because Im naturally muscular.

I managed to trim down to 80kg's which was pretty amazing because the lowest I got before that was 105kg's - and I was doing a lot of training and racing at 105.

If you can accept that you need to lose a bunch of muscle mass to get down to a competitive weight then you can get lighter, if not then just enjoy riding and do towtruck duty on the flats.

As a skinny rider it is very frustrating to see all your hard work on the climbs undone when all the heavier riders fly past you on the downhill, making it look like I'm parking my bike! So it makes one wonder if it is really such an advantage being a lightie!
