Do you guys do this even if the weather is wet?

I'm also not a morning person, but I try to get up early.  Most often it doesn't happen though.

I don't start in the rain(opt for gym instead). A light summer drizzle is tolerated when it comes along during the ride. Durban has almost no winter rainfall, but twice in 2015 the Mercury dipped to 9 degrees and that is way too cold. (Gym again).

Depending on the day of the week / weekend on up @ 4h00 AM and on the bike 4h30...or up @ 4h20 and on the bike 4h50   or Suikerbos Reserve @ 7h00 AM :cursing:  because they do not open earlier

Takes a lot of dedication and YES...a buddy that waits for you and don't want to let down always works.

Asleep between 21h30 and 22h30...and awake during the night 2 or 3 times because of our little bundle of joy

Ride buddies certainly make getting up easier, although, if you really enjoy getting out and riding then it really shouldn't be that difficult.

That said, I'm finding it more and more difficult to recover from the early starts.

Must be getting old.! LOL

I'm thinking of signing for a World Tour Pro team, AG2R at this point, (although I'm having second thoughts upon seeing their camel-hoof white bib shorts), I'll then move to the French Alps, get up at 9:00am and cycle from 10:00am...

I'll stop in the local villages to have a coffee (and sign a few autographs for the local population of aspiring super models) at 01:00pm and continue riding until 5:00pm. That should work right?

Looking at my Strava stats, I actually did pretty much the same kilometres in the winter months. CT weather gets funny during winter but if you honest with yourself and count how many days the weather was so bad you couldn't ride you won't come up with many.

In winter, switch to MTB , shower and all my clothes already at work.

Do still leave in the dark with lights, however, not so early cos its kinda dangerous

it takes some time to get into the routine. Sleeping after 10 and trying to get up at 4:30-5 isn't an easy task.

If I am riding, then I usually get into bed by 8:30pm and slowly start switching off. Get up at 4:10am and on the road by 4:45. Ride for 90-120mins, it helps that work is just 7km from home with not much traffic.

So I very much a Night owl and when I have seen the sunrise it is normally after an all nighter, parties as a student and of late work allnighters ;-)

I however did a 05h15 which needed 04h00 wakeup  to get there last week and it very rewarding ( a two hour ride before the family wakes up- Big Smile )

Plan to get an early night tonight and repeat tomorrow and thursday hopefully I can get on a roll.

Trick is the early nights i think

On weekends I can't seem to get up earlier than 8am, and on the bike by earliest 9am, so when everyone else is almost home from their 3 or 4 hour ride, I'm just leaving home and riding in traffic and returning in mid day heat. I keep promising myself I'll get up up earlier next time, but I never do. During the week I commute to work around 7:30am every day, regardless of weather.

My SO never skips a days training unless she is sick so any weather condition means training

That sounds a bit like me, all except the bike team bit anyway.

In summer I usually wake up around 6.30am, walk downstairs and make coffee, enjoy it with a small pastry of sorts, potter around till 8am then go out and do a ride which can be as short as the first coffee shop or as long as I feel.

I seldom get to bed before midnight though.

Been retired has its perks.!

In winter I still wake up at 6.30am go downstairs and make coffee etc but then I just turn the heater up and read a book. :P
