I think he owned Probike back in the day when they were the Raleigh agents and sold all those bikes to Makro etc, then they started with those Axis bikes, then became Scott Bikes SA (Evans connection), and now he is a director for Rush Sports.

Maybe they should ask Rush Sports if Els' opinions represent them as well:

How to toilet your name, and that of Rush Sports in one fell swoop. If I was in Brandon's shoes I would have used the opportunity to distance myself (and my company) from a confessed doper and I would have initiated legal action to recover some of the sponsorship I have provided to the doper (I am sure that there would have been a doping clause in the contract of some sort).

No bru, you got this totally wrong.

Truth and public benefit are a complete defense to a defamation action. And the truth of what Fandacious said at the time has now come out. He has been vindicated.

Look at it this way. Knowing full well that he was doping, KE retains a celebrity lawyer to muzzle and intimidate fandacious from telling the truth. Ie - that he was doping. Something the public deserved to know, something that was true. In so doing, he abused the law, and his own lawyer. She must be pissed. I sure don't begrudge fandacious his anger. He was subject to Similar treatment Lance dished out. Law suits to stop truth coming out. Disgraceful by any standard.

I see your logic...but let's look at this again....

What Fandacious said at the time, you say was truth....it is truth now...but at the time Kevin was presumed as a doper purely by association.....the old "I told you so" adage applies to these type of actions....there was no proof at the time that Kevin was in actual fact doping...all we had was that his teammate George was now a confirmed doper.....so it's easy to make statements and comments at the time and later on say "I told you so, I just knew it"

Very much like attending a wedding and saying I don't give it a year and trues nuts they divorce within a year and you sit back and say "see I was right"

Now understand that I have no horse in this race.....not Kevin, Fandacious or Oldcootbiker (I am more of a fan in regards to a golfing lady)

Now you say "knowing full well he was doping"......Kevin would have known that he was....but did Fandacious know for fact that he was doping and did he have the evidence to prove it...or was it all just a case of venting and making a noise at the time as well as speculating ?

Now let's touch on the bit where Kevin abuses his own lawyer and the law....doing some digging as I was not here when all that broke out...I have looked at everything with a totally unbiased approach....and from what I can see it was the Oldcootbiker on twitter who got Emma involved and not actually Kevin....yes I understand that Kevin knowing that he was doping should have then informed the Oldcoot and Emma that he was either actually guilty of the accusations lobbied at him....or he should have just informed them to let it be...this he did not do so quite a shallow move from his side.....

What I am saying and it's pretty simple and let's leave Kevin and his deceitful behaviour out of it for a second (and I know some will say but you can't) the Oldcoot and Emma acted on what was then at that time within that particular time frame and by their own logic in a way that was justifiable...if it was to go to court (then)...let's be honest as to what the outcome would have been...without knowing what we know now....

Touching on a few more things you pointed out...yes Emma should be rather pissed....Fandacious has all the right to be angry especially if we look at "because in hindsight" or "I told you so" and I certainly don't begrudge his anger and I certainly don't suggest he build a bridge....

I do still have the one question...the one thing that has me totally perplexed....what was the motive at the time...why did Fandacious go full tilt in the manner that he did....and as we are looking at the Kari tweets thinking the language is shocking....do yourselves a favour and do what I did on a Saturday arvie when I had nothing better to do and I went in on those Twitter archives.....things got pretty nasty back then...what we are seeing now is mild in comparison....

It's easy for us to sit and say what happened THEN is warranted because of the NOW....no siree we can't just call someone a pedophile because their surname is Van Rooyen...

Just as a final note...I have nothing against Fandacious and in actual fact if I was him I would certainly sit and gloat and have my day.....

When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.

They are guilty, and nobody likes eating humble pie, so they turn to insults.

Els backed the wrong horse, well seems to be an entire stable, so he looks like a tit and is lashing out.

There is another option. He could have been in on it the whole way. Lots of the players from trek, Nike, Oakley etc. made a packet riding the Lance Inc. wave, and have been fingered for doing nothing when they could have known.

Kevin Evans has sold a metric crapload of bikes for Brandon. Go back ten years and see how many Raleighs were on the road/trails. Win on Sunday, sell on Monday simple bike marketing strategy.

There is no evidence to say Kevin has been doping for 10 years- just good results, it could have been just when he teamed up with DG and they took winning the Epic (for south Africa, nogal) to an obsessive level. It could have been at the tail end of his career as ability dropped. All speculation in the public eye.

Either way, Brandon seems to have been behind a huge part of Kevin's career and obviously has a vested interest in how this has turned out. The fact that he has come out swinging against the vindicated doubters shows a lot.

Not to stir and get a fight going....but I certainly don't buy a bike because some top rider happens to be on it...and I am sure there is many more like myself.....

Maybe you should send a note to the Spez marketing team (and others), they would be grateful to here that all the millions they spend on sponsoring top riders actually have zero impact on the appeal of their bikes...

Are we are comparing Kevin from South Africa to the likes of Contador (both dopers) ?

Personally I don't think Kevin would have sold a metric crapload of bikes by being on one....but that's me....

Has it been established that Kevin was doping prior to his medical problems?

Has it been established that he was consistently doping?

Or has it been established that he was doping post medical procedures?

Its all getting confusing because fact seems to be diluted by speculation and I stopped following this thread many many many pages back

Maybe you dont, but lots of other people do.

This is why people put their celeb names on their shops front doors, why Andrew is still hanging around CL... People want to be friends with these celeb riders and that then leads them buying bikes and bits from them.

Half the guys who are blindly defending him on socal media seem to be local Plett clients who bought bikes from him.

Those sales were not driven by Kevin, Microsoft cycling team as a whole would of done significantly more. If Kevin sells bikes howcome then Volcon never ever took off as well as Merckx bikes in this country as he rode both?

What wins on Saturday does not sell on Monday. Its been proven before. Marketing and value for money sells, back int he day Raleigh was really good value for money.

Just a Fandacious one :P

Someone putting themselves out there doesn't require stalking...it's all in the open for everyone to see...let's not start something that could go pear shaped as it normally does....as I pointed out I have no issue with him....I do however find the entire drama very intriguing.....
