“I am deeply sorry. I am facing disciplinary action at the moment and will probably lose my job over this. I just hope people know that I am truly sorry,” Minter-Brown told The Mercury.

Sorry he said it or sorry he is likely to lose his job ?

The following statement leaves me in no doubt that it is the latter.

“I just couldn’t understand why they keep using that road even though it is obviously dangerous. It made me angry. Sometimes, when you see them cycling, they are barely visible. This makes me angry too.”

Interesting that the drunk drivers don't make him angry

What a halfwit.

Stupid and as thick as jam it appears....

He said in his 15 years at the radio station he had done lots of “good” charity work, and all his efforts seemed to have been wiped away by a single, “irresponsible” comment.

No erfhole....it was not a single "irresponsible" comment....it was a well crafted though out tweet in the hope of creating a bit of sensationalism in the name of comedy....

Exactly, Why didn't he made a study about how many people were killed- cyclists, pedestrians, other motorists- due to drunk drivers.

Google tells me that he has always been a bit of a hot-head if the links I viewed are to be believed.

He sure did make a mistake with this one though, that was really poor taste.

In an affidavit read out by defence attorney Devin Moodley, Ramnarain said he had lived all his life in the same house in Phoenix and contributed R5 000 a month, out of the R15 000 he cleared, to the running of the household.

2 guys died at this guy's hands and, regardless of the circumstances, the statement above expects to give sympathy to the guy?

Then as a bit of an angry troll addition... how does someone who has R10k disposable income per month have a GTI?

it's a golf 5 GTI. You can pick them up reasonably cheaply ie approx R 150k or so. Finance on that is approx 4k per month, depending on interest rate, deposit etc etc.

So not unheard of at all.

I think that statement was more for things to come.

His lawyer is probably sowing the seed that him seeing jail time will have a negative impact on his parents.

It was a mk5 gti which he could have picked up 2nd hand in his price range(I had the same thought initially)

Hmmm... I wouldn't say I feel sorry for him, in any way shape or form. He made his own bed...

And if he thinks this is all going to blow over, he'll be living with the repercussions for a looong time. Even without jail time (which is going to happen, due to the drink driving and deaths) he'd be in kaaaak from a financial standpoint.

Insurers won't touch him, he'll have to continue paying for a car he can't claim an insurance payout for (due to driving drunk) and it'll be tickets for him for at least 5 years and perhaps even longer...

Nope. Perfectly comfortable with where he is at the moment. No sympathy for the ****.

No sympathy here either!!
