40% is just a percentage I gave it, you cannot see that the product already have a weak spot.

To be honest I think you scored quite a deal out of it. They could have inspected it and told you its damaged and needs to be replaced for safety sake. You would then have had to pay full price.

Luckily they broke it in the end which means you get it at cost price, score!

Its easy to get emotional about these things, but in a short while it will be forgotten and you will carry on hitting trails with a nice solid axle.

Life can be a funny thing sometimes, try not to let it get to you.

I am sorry, have you ever read a sign in a shop that say "when you brake it, you pay it"? doesn't that mean you have to pay even when that product even if you didn't intend to brake it?

BREAK not brake!!!!!! Does my head in, think I'm getting old.

Cost price is a winner I reckon. You get a new axle at a decent price that will keep your teeth in your mouth and the shop is not out of pocket for saving your teeth.

Win-win I reckon.

Maybe they should have thrown in a freebie like topping up your sealant up for free. That may have sweetened the deal enough for you.

That's probably what I would have done.

Do you have a pic of the broken axle?

I can'y understand how an axle can be on it way out?

I assume the unbroken axle looked like this...

The internals broke, the meganism that tighten the the "non drive side"

If it was already damaged, it probably would've broken soon anyway and you would have had to replace it. You aren't out of pocket and you haven't lost anything

Ooooh. Yeah. That's a k@k system IMO. Broken one myself. Send an SOS on the Mountainbikers do it downhill FB page. Someone is sure to have one.

How much did you end up paying for the axle?

Logically, a 40% broken axle would finally snap which means that at that time you would have had to pay full price.

Take the bargain now as opposed to full price later, especially when you know it is only a matter of time before you will need it anyway.
