As a previous poster said - Epic was forced to use a cut off date to get exclude dopers from their race. I think Pieter "doper" Seyffert screwed the pooch before the Epic cut off date...

That's what I was sort of eluding too... didn't think joBerg2c had a "cut-off" date.

I didn't see George at j2c this year - think their violations were around a similar time.

I'll chat with Wappo though

"Big new rule: From 1 Jan 2016 riders caught for doping and convicted will face a lifetime ban from joBerg2c with no exceptions – riders who were banned before this date will be able to ride as we cannot undo the hazy past but we can try be part of a clean future."

If I was Derrin I would be proper pissed off.

Get the dopers out. They kakked on the system they don't deserve a place in it any more.

Let them ride their bikes as much as they want - just not in races and especially not in CSA sanctioned events.

Man I hate dopers.

I wish that I could like your post more than once. Derrin should throw his toys.

Hmmm... I know it's tricky to deal with, but basically we could sit with a Seyffert, Evans, Stewart, George, Crouser podium battle next year. That would suck something special.

We're doing this with the Crater Cruise - gonna look at what our options are - definitely keen on something a little more "here and now" - as well as heading forward. Dopers on any podium does not send the right message in my view... the sport can't really afford to offer up second chances.

You still hold the right to refuse entry?

Farmer Glen responded to this "loop hole" when asked and said that they reserve the right to refuse entry to anybody(dopers) and that they have done so already....

I think that if the pressure stays on them to keep ex convicted dopers out, then they wont let them back in...

Create a super duper category which does not come into consideration for the prize money and put all the dopers in together.

Let them go off 10 mins before the cyclists.

Like an Unlimited Class.... Like that idea, this way dopers will over dope and blow up like Top Fuel dragsters, removing the Doping Gene from the pool, Darwin et al. Edited by Patchelicious

Due their stance I am considering doing j2c 2017. Support the races that do, and will not support the race that don't take this stance.

Actually screw it...I am not considering it. I am doing it

The caveat though is that the convictions need to be airtight, and the reality is that many of the doping cased have been flawed. From the athlete to the federation and anti-doping.

As far as events go. Ultimately it's upto the organisers, I may not always agree but I'm not going to resort to the same bullying as doping to pressure them into refusing specific people. J2C have taken the right action with the rule, I feel.

I'm over wasting energy on the dopers themselves, we're so fixated on the athlete and creating a pitchfork fest we're actually ignoring the root issues behind the scenes that create a breeding ground for doping to thrive. There's a parralel with EFF style politics there.

Of course bring this up and immediately be accused of defending dopers and being disingenuous. Happened to me this morning, and when I pointed out the irony of the last part in the accusation the oke went into the typical aggro alpha douchebag tone. So much for reasoned discussion.

I must be honest, I like your approach, its more balanced than most and makes a hell of a lot of sense.

Regarding the "root issues behind the scenes that create a breeding ground for doping" - what do you attribute this too, what do you beleive is the true main causation? And how do we tackle it?

I agreed that this must be a multi-pronged solution. Calling guys knobheads on Twitter is not the only solution, but it is a solution to one area of the problem. So those guys who are putting pressure on the organisers are doing some good on one front, but like you said, this must be approached from several fronts.

I believe that a large part of what motivates people who are competitors by7nature to dope, is the allure of winning prestigious events, the prestige, the praise they get for doing winning. If those same events will shun them, it might just maybe maybe add balance to the "should I, shouldnt I" debate that happens in their heads.

Athletic and Cycling Masterton are the hosts for the Centre Championships this year. It will be  run over the weekend of the 9th and 10th of April. A great chance to represent your club at either the individual Time trial , Road race or both . All competitors will race in Gender and age group categories so there is an opportunity for riders of all abilities to gain a title for 2016.quoteslogy

I'm all for letting go of "who is doping" because well we will never know and there are officials dedicated to doing this.

Convicted dopers - on the other hand - I'm happy to spend time on because making them embarrassed/angry/pissed off/shy/whatever of their doping can only benefit the sport.

Get them out and let the moral/honest riders win races.

Not that I'm a pitchfork and tar/feather kinds guy - I just believe that convicted dopers have it way too easy. Coupla years off and it's all presenting spot on supercycling, back to smashing podiums and business as usual.

I'm REALLY pleased race organisers are jumping on board with the "no dopers in our races" approach. Cudos to them.

As for the root cause - EGO. That's all. The only way to stamp out root causes is no podiums, no public recognition of results, no prize money, no winners, no photos, no races in my opinion. As long as we (rightly) glorify ability and skill there will be people who swap morals for public recognition.

From now on I ledge to yell DOPER DOPER whenever I'm at a prize giving where a convicted doper steps onto a podium.

Let the very thing that makes them dope (public recognition) become the thing that drives them out of the sport and makes new riders to the sport think many times before doping.

That said - each to their own - I'm not going to prescribe to anyone how they should "deal" with dopers.
