Sorry EmJay, well done for getting professional help in good time. Agree that rapid increases in training from zero do not allow the necessary time for the whole body to adapt. I do think though that training for three disciplines does allow for a higher overall training intensity & volume than doing just one sport.

Make sure your shoes still have cushion in the areas that you need it, try to run on softer surfaces, and cut down on fast running (as well as very slow running). And be diligent about rehab: stretching, icing, resting, exercises.

My weakest discipline

Morning Tri'nuts!

Just pre IMSA this might not be the best time to post this but we all know the cost around IM distance races and the hype in general - wanted to throw a line out there and see what the general feelings are this event... https://www.knysnaxtreme.co.za/

Same price as an IM 70.3... Its back to basics of tri with just you and the course.

Anyone else excited to see this race and given it their attention?!

Hope this post is inline with thread :)

Edit: not a lot of entries, could get pretty lonely out there

If it is back to basics with just yourself on the course, etc, why is it the same price as a fully catered for 70.3 then?

Does look like a nice, very tough race though!

what type of training do you want? ocean or pool. if you want ocean then bigbay and small bay are always good. Then there's silvermine dam, camps bay tidal pool, camps bay and clifton beaches

How safe is it to swim in the Camps bay and Clifton ocean? Are there group swims I can maybe join?

it's pretty safe but I wouldn't swim alone. Search FB for the "sunday hot chocolate group" They swim camps bay every sunday and very social and helpful. Search FB for "3soms" for the Clifton group. For bigbay and small bay I can't get you added to a watsapp group where you can find out what is happening

Is why have previously recommended GP4000 II for racing and even training on.  If you got the money also consider the Attack & Force combo.

Grand Prix TT would only consider for short distance and actual time trial only races although you will see many of the pro's bikes with the Grand Prix TT's for the better rolling resistance.

Info on Continental tyres, rubber compounds and what best suited for here:

Take a look at this:

For an Ironman length race, the GP4000s tires save around 16 minutes over the Gatorskins at the same power level and the full aero accessory package (helmet & wheels) saves only around 7 minutes.

Cool, I just got 2 from CWC on sale. Went for 25mm before checking that they’ll fit my bike, so they may be in the classifieds soon...????

(edit: not claiming to be anywhere near Ironman-distance ready though ????)
