Hoo boy - when he rode a 27,5 it was going to kill 29ers.

Scott HQ probably looked at their revenue curve and said "Lets confuse everybody and sell some more bikes to the saps down in South Africa who care about this". After giggling for 20 minutes they phoned Ninno's mechanic and told him to change the wheel size. Then they sat up in their fortified headquarters and chuckled when on Monday morning everyone dumped their 27,5 wheels and went to 29.

Does that explain it....

Ok so here's the plan. I'm gonna get a 650b as well, then I have 26, 27.5 and 29 in my garage. Depending on what the market thinks is the best size, I can then just switch from week to week. Ugh. Kry sommer n maagseer.

Best you get some "+" sizes to

EDIT: why do you think he changed to 29" for yesterdays race?

It's a prototype with a completely new shock placement and likely heavily co-designed & developed. So real world race testing after testing in training would be my guess. He didn't like the way that the older niner handled with the front end being that much higher than the 275's (due to the larger wheel & fork)

Nino realised 29ers are faster - as it has been proven scientifically over and over.

Maybe he felt the course was much more technical and needed the bigger wheel size to get the benefit of rolling over the obstacles  :whistling:
