This is how I rode Argus numbers 3 and 4. With both Dad and Brother. As you can see from my profile pic I still ride it with my Dad.

My little boet is at the back(he did 11 tours and then stopped).

So I was too short for the back(middle in this case) so my toppie made an attachment that sat higher up on the frame and was connected to the chainring and I was still able to pedal.

My Dad actually just used this as training, It was in the middle of his ironman training. He did ironman 6 years in a row so it was a breeze for him. He was super fit, even used to go for a jog after the ride, serious!!!!!!!

I just signed up as an international rider for my 2nd tour. Does any one have an idea what the starting time for internationals could be?

Let's hope there are no fires this year so I get to do an actual full CTCT!

I didn't ride as much this year, we had a shitty spring, just pouring rain rain and more rain from january til april-may. We had a lovely autumn until last week and now we're back to cold rain (6°...) . I still hope to be in shape by march, very much looking forward to it!

Not sure if internationals are still in their own group. There used to be 2 but your last year's time (or 2 years ago) should get you a seeding which could potentially place you earlier than the international group sets off or later, depending on how well you did this year. You will be able to drop back if you want but obviously not allowed to move up groups higher than your allocated one.

At least you have lots of time to get in shape if not the weather. I'm in Oudenaard for the Ronde van Vlaanderen Sportive 1st April which sounds a bit like an April fools with my current shape. Praying for good weather. Are you anywhere near there?

My first and only CTCT (so far!) was the fire ride so I don't think those times count :-)

I grew up in Ronse, next to Oudenaarde! I live 60km further away now. Weather in April can be anything from freezing to nice and sunny.....

I'm e-mailing companies to rent a road bike for the CTCT. 1st one is fully booked, 2nd charges 3500ZAR, 3th charges 4500ZAR, I kid you not! That's completely ridiculous.

I e-mailed another one who charges 2500ZAR, which I find reasonable. Waiting for his reply.(2500ZAR is about the same amount what we pay for our accommodation in CPT, weird!)

Rather bring your own bike and explore the city by bike. The money you save will pay for a few extra days accommodation. Cape Town is a truly beautiful city. And is fairly cycling friendly. Admittedly not like Europe.

It has a very Euro feel to it compared to other African cities I've been to. I've often called the Atlantic seaboard the African Riviera. The weather at that time of year is generally fairly mild. There's a bus service called the My City with stops all over the Atlantic seaboard that you can use to get around.

Restaurants away from the tourist traps are well priced and offer good service. Booking is essential. Especially at that time of year.

As for accommodation I'd recommend Hout Bay. It's on the Atlantic Seaboard but not in a very expensive part of town. The CTCT goes through there. Chapmans Peak and Victoria Drive into Camps Bay are right there. It's probably the best place for a road cyclist to be based. Admittedly I'm biased because I live there.

Maybe I should post this on here.

I'm thinking about letting my apartment for the CTCT weekend. It's in Hout Bay. About 600m from the bottom of Suikerbossie. 80m from a My City bus stop. Within easy walking distance of various shops and restaurants. It's a perfect cyclists apartment with retired bike frames on the wall and a map of the Portes du Soleil on the wall.

There's secure undercover parking

Great security

Spectacular valley views

2 bedrooms. Both with Queen size beds

2 bathrooms

Double volume ceilings

Gas braai on the patio

Etc etc.

Takers?
