Dont you mean Ou Kaaps then black hill then right towards Simons Town and around?? If left towards Fish Hoek then straight at the circle, How will the cyclists coming from Fish Hoek side get accross the intersection and go right towards Chappies whilst the other cyclists are going straight from Ou Kaaps onto Black Hill??

Yes thats the route sorry about the mistake by saying left into fishoek should be right then normal route

This would add on quite a few kms?

But I think I am going to go with Savage on this one because I don't feel like a detour and am going to stay positive.

And that the cycle tour trust have no knowledge of this supposed detour [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Only reason for detour would be if we had fires like yesterday on the Friday of the event.

Any chance the 99ner 64km race can be used to get some sort of seeding in for the CapeTown Cycle Challenge?

I've used the full 99ner in previous years to get a good seeding for the CTCT. Haven't done any racetec races in the last 2 - 3 years and seeding is 101.

From the CTCT website.

"For the 2016 Cape Town Cycle Tour we have not only considered your best result in one of the Premier Seeding Events above, but also your best time achieved in other recent events timed by RaceTec (if those times were better) but with a 5% penalty. The seeding index of these events may carry additional penalties if the event was more than 6 months ago, was too short or had too little climbing in it."

It will be used but will not have a great beta, therefore not much use.

His current seeding is 101 - I think even with a bad beta any race result would be a massive improvement....

I might have left it a bit late, looking for bike transport from PTA to the CTCT.

I see The Bike Migration does it at a rate of R1100.

I would prefer one of the options where the bike is not loaded in a box, where the front wheel is the only thing that is removed.

Any suggestions?

Try Cycle House in Pta North- R 850. You get your bike at the expo and give it to them at the finish. Awesome guys with awesome service. They do put it in a box though.

Listening to the news every day and by the sounds of it there won't be much left to burn comes the 12th of March. Normal route as per last year, I would think. Strongs to those affected. Too many fires, too far apart and that leaves a strong suspicion of malicious intent, methinks.

Best question is to always ask "Who benefits financially?"

That is what stumps me with these fires, who would benefit from this destruction? People claiming payouts from their insurance?

Very cynical view but sometimes the part time firefighters who derives an income from fighting the fires are accused of starting the fires themselves...

Don't perpetuate that old myth again please, there are way too many firefighters, volunteers included, who put their lives on the line to generalize. As far as I know there has never been a single case where there was more than just speculation about that (in Cape Town anyway).

I ,for one, think the man made fires are mostly started by stupid irresponsible people chucking cigarette stompies out of fast moving cars while the South Easter is blowing. There is a reason most of these fires start next to roads. Secondly, I think that most of the intentional arson fires are started by hooligans with nothing better to do. Exactly the same people who vandalize public property.

But that is just what I think, of course I have no proof either, just that my theory is more probable than the one about the firefighters doing it for a quick buck.

:) (The smiley is just to say that I'm really not looking for a firefight, even though it is Friday the 13th.)

tbf I did say "accused" not state it as fact ... But yes it is just speculation

"Firefighter arson" is a world wide thing though and would not be unique here if true

Although it's not great, it's better having regular fires than less regular as they are normally smaller. Less combustible material on the ground etc!
