Looking for a small backpack without bladder

I am looking for a solution to carry water bottles on my back, in some sort of small backpack, which must meet the following requirements:

- Be able to fit two standard (700ml?) size water bottles

- Be able to fit a few small tools and spares

- Must NOT have a bladder system, as I do not like these, they are a mission to keep clean and I can not mix and match different drinks in one bladder as I can do in two separate bottles.

You might comment, just buy a regular hydration pack and remove the bladder system, however hydration packs with a built-in bladder system come at a price as you are paying (pretty much R700) for the bladder system.

You might also comment just buy a regular hiking type backpack and use this - the problem with these all the ones I have come across are generally much larger (as people who hike carry a lot more stuff on them than people that cycle), so this option is also not what I'm after.

Just carry my bottles in bottle cages?  Also a problem as I have space for only 1 bottle cage on my frame.  I have tried mounting one on the seat post behind the seat, but having now lost two water bottles (even with them Velcro'ed in place) in the last month, I also want to move away from this option.

Put the water bottle in your cycling shirt's back pocket, also tried that and hate the way it feels (pulling down the back of my jersey).

Has anyone come across a small size backpack that will be suitable for my needs, or even have a better idea of how I can carry two water bottles plus some tools without using any of the above options?

I purchased a K-Way Cadence  from Cape Union Mart a while back and I have used it extensively.  Fantastic product and will do exactly as you describe.  Cheap as chips then.  Should have purchased more.  Not sure if they are still available.

Yeah, I received a cadence as well as a pressie. Nice bag, small but big

I have a Camelbak Mule I no longer use, I do use the bladder which means that it would perhaps suit your needs. Happy to sell it to you, good condition, make an offer. Light brown in colour if that's an issue.

Move the cage up or use a longer bottle. If you get the fit right the saddle keeps the bottle in place and you'll never lose one again.

here are my 2 suggestions:

1: Hydration belt, I use one when running, there are plent of brands available. 1 bottle in cage, one in belt and you good to go, has space for a gu and maybe a tool.

2: go with an ultra running vest style pack. They have small soft bottles on the front which should do what you want and are far more comfy that a camelbak...

NB: i posted Salomon links but there are other brands selling similar products, I am just a fan of the brand...

Thanks guys, the K-way bags look like a good option, significantly cheaper than their First Ascend and Camelbak equivalents, cheap enough to not worry too much to discard/remove the bladder (to be honest I didn't even think about looking at Cape Union Mart, only looked at bikeshops and Sportsmans).

The Salomon belt or jacket/vest also looks like a great option, where would I find this in SA?

The Assos one looks nice, and though I know they produce quality goods, may be too pricey for what I am after.

Plentipotential, thanks for the offer but I actually already have a pack of similar size to the one you are offering, looking for something a bit smaller.
