Hi Frosty,

I tried this file but it doesn't seem to agree with my Garmin?

Anybody else have a gpx file for Suikerbos?

Thank you so much Gr3mlin131, it worked a treat!

Absolute pleasure. Also for you or any others that want to do this with a couple other people to tag along. This Sunday from about 8am, Cradle Cycle and Beyond (Facebook Group) will have a ride there, perfect if you wanted to try it, but not alone. See you there,  .

I went cycling there Friday with the road bike for the first time.
It was amazing as always. I saw less animals, more baboons and no snakes at all.
Only negative thing was the picnic goers and their littering - while municipal workers were behind them cleaning the area.

Hi Guys

Goodman is the new manager responsible at Suikerbosrand and his efforts have already been noticed. The bathrooms and fresh water supply has been sorted out. He is still however limited by the budget allocation, but at least there is some improvement.

Next on the agenda:

  • Refuse system and garbage removal.
  • Security and fence maintenance.
  • Walking Trails upkeep.
  • Overnight Huts renovation

Hopefully after this they can attend to the potholes and cracks on the route.

Communication on the Overnight Huts i.e web page will be nice.

Tried to find info a while back and could not find anything

Rode Sunday: Whole place was clean, rubbish in available bins, bathrooms clean (bar the big ass cricket thing sitting in there staring at me). Roads were better than any of the east rand roads I ride; I think there was literally 1 pothole and two points where they cut across the road otherwise all more than acceptable.

New favourite riding venue, NO CARS :)

Unfortunately I forgot to ask, but I assume the overnight huts and the midway picnic area is still closed due to water supply issues.

The only info I have is this link. It is old, but still fairly accurate.

I agree, the roads are not that bad. A regular visit will get to k ow where the bad sections are.

I normally ride there and back so the ablutions aren’t every frequented. That said, I’d prefer to see them repair the basics that the attract more visitors and generate more income. Then fixed the road.
