Nope, pro's don't influence my choice. All about the route/area especially if I can't ride that route without entering an event. If I am allowed to ride on a route without having to enter a race then I will rather do that. Prefer to wear my shades and ride my Spez for fun!  :D

was going to like this... then you had to go all Spez ...  tsk tsk

Just think how fast you could be and how awesome your Strava profile would be if you had a decent bike like him. Burns doesn't it?

I too, wish to use the #iamspecial(ized) tag someday

I used to love seeing the riders from the AIG, IBM Lotus etc teams at the races.

But to me it feels like you don't even see the pro riders at the races now. They ride, collect their prize money, and poof! in their team cars and off to their next destination.

Will there be an autograph session, a "meet the teams and riders" opportunity, a sign-in like at the euro races? If not, then their presence adds little value to the race for the other riders.

Sure, for the sponsors and TV purposes they add value. But I won't enter a race because certain pros will be there

I only smaak it if there are previously banned pro's at the event

I would enter a race that had brando, kevbo, georgieporgie and rourkieboykie on the startline...wait I probably have already have

+1

For me it is about cost and distance. Not too fazed about food, drinks after the race. I normally cross the line, grab my medal and go straight to the car. I also like races with very early starts cos then you home early and still have the day left to spend with the family

I'm not allowed to take a medal anymore :(

Some pros are cool, like when you see Cavendish or Sagan stop and help some palooka with a puncture. You should invite those pros to your race.

Fabien Barel helped my mate fix his chain guide in Morzine. Legend.

hahaha! Nothing brings me more joy than beating some fellow amateur on his 120k bike with my 6k gumtree bargain.

Why does it bring you joy in cycling better than somebody who has more money than you?

Surely you should rather be happy that they have made a success of their life and can afford nice things?
