Dan Martin is looking good. Impressed with his performance yesterday. Just hope he doesn't go loose time just to qualify for a breakaway stage win.

Wow, so I just watched the final 5km of today's stage.

Aru must have had something special in his juice bottle. Talk about putting down the hammer!

Eish!!

Maybe it was Biogen Testoforte? [emoji6]

But he's supposed to be a favorite?

First climb and once again Contador nowhere to be seen.

I get the feeling he's retired from competitive cycling. He just hasn't told anyone yet.

NQ nowhere to be seen today... think he will be lucky to make the podium!

Not a fan myself but I think he has been given a bum steer by his team this year. I would think that before you try and do the double, you first try and do the single! His only asset is that he climbs well over a long climb. This years tour was not designed for his abilities. IMO.

Clearly all of the Giro contenders this year struggled yesterday. I would say Armstrong got it spot on when he said it is very difficult to do the double in modern day cycling. Someone someday, but not NQ.

Fabulous effort from Aru, lets hope it's clean. At least he had the balls to have a go unlike the other wet blankets trying to take the jersey away from Sky. The idiot that planned BMC's strategy yesterday should be fired! What was he thinking? Not too much grey matter in pro cycling.

He is looking good, I like his commitment. He's a good contender, lets hope his team are 100% behind him. Gilbert's effort yesterday would have been better spent in Martins service. Never see a Sky rider trying to win a stage while the rest of the team are trying to win the tour.

Would love to see Dan on the podium in Paris!!

Not sure why people are surprised by Aru. .when Aru feels good he is good, it when the chips are down that he struggles mentaly.

They gave him too much room..because they underestimated him, they won't do that again. Now Astana will have to share some of the work. .well that's if BMC don't do it for them as well.????

He (Aru) looked like he was climbing faster than his bike could move, as if he was climbing a ladder.

Dont know if he (Aru) will be able to keep pace on the longer climbs, but good on him for going for it.

NQ pulled to the side very easily, never actually saw him do that before. But the trouble with these short sharp climbs are that it suits a totally different type of climber.

Meintjies did good, but also maybe not a type of climb that he likes.

Lets see what the longer climbs dish up.

To be honest I have never really enjoyed Aru but I must say his win yesterday did leave me rather impressed. I'll give him a thumbs up for that.

No Aru fan myself but that was a gutsy, ride your heart out attack with a well deserved win. Makes for good viewing as well.

I was most surprised with how Froome attacked and then shut it down after shaking NQ, AC, SY and the rest of the elite peloton in the final climb BUT before trying to ride onto Aru. That was telling for me yesterday. Clearly not a stage where he and Porte wanted to put everything on the table, or the legs aren't there on the short steep stuff....

Froome said during the interview afterwards that they made a mistake at that point and should perhaps have gone straight after Aru.

Talking about Froome, he has clearly lifted his game since the Dauphine and is looking very good and confident at the moment. It seems as if the slow build up he had this year is now beginning to pay dividends and I expect him to get even stronger as the tour progresses.
