Clear your day, kiss your loved ones, go for a 5 hour ride, light the fire to braai, chill them beers, and watch the men and women gladiators take on the cobbles without any interruptions but to hydrate, text here and refuel.

haibo! the fair-weather rider in me (ie all of me) finds that image horrifying!

… and then there’s the little boy in this late 50’s body, just got back from from a rain-soaked ride that included a downpour.  Foul weather riding has its moments.  My all-time fave cycling experience was biking up a snow covered Swartberg to camp solo on the peak, and the picnic brought up by the then-wife and kids the next morning.  The cherry-on-top was the cloudless, windless full-moon night in the snow.

Now to clean the ride while watching TdFlanders.
