Complete Cyclists Bryanston ROBBED!

I would invest in those small gps trackers in the seat posts... 5k and you have 14 trackers in the bikes. When they hit the shop again... find out where these bikes go.

Then you will find some hubbers having to explain their new group sets! - pure speculation of course.

Well only if they buy the seat post.

Well only if they buy the seat post.

Hmmmm did not think that far...

I was thinking the perps buy the whole bikes then the people that will look the other way buy said bike and strip groupset and leave bike in shed. Less headaches for the perps as dont have to explain why they have 32 unused frames chilling like a villian in their shed.

No bikes were taken from the workshop

I kinda do worry when one of my bikes "overnights" at the LBS's I frequent.

Looking at the getaway cars, recent models, good condition....  people with money doing this job, probably with inside info.

Perhaps the cars were stolen too?

I still maintain that this is happening under our noses, I have said it since 2005 when the bike jackings etc started!

The frame gets stripped and the parts sold off as "low mileage" "almost new" "less than 500km on it" and sold off bit by bit - not necessarily as a complete gruppo...who's gonna question an XT rear derailleur here or there? There are multiple members of a syndicate - all here on the Hub - willing to put money on it, who all have at least one username and are selling the bits off on the sly.

Sit back and think about it for a sec, that XT rear derailleur - was it genuinely ridden? perhaps you went to the dudes house to collect, couple of bikes in the garage - Hmmm, he's a fellow cyclist you think, no harm here! Deal done...What you don't see is the offsite storage locker with the frames etc all hanging on the wall...

A year or two down the line, you see a Specialized Epic for sale, Very good condition with a few "upgrades" at a reasonable price - again you visit said seller and have a look, and yes a very clean low mileage bike - deal done...This thread is long forgotten about so it doesn't even cross your mind that an Epic was stolen from this store...

Like I maintain these bikes are not necessarily heading across borders...

Nope, white mask, maybe dust mask like construction workers wear....

If that's the case, then surely it's an inside job, or somebody who know exactly how they try and secure their bikes after hours. They definitely came prepared to get as many valuable goods in the shortest possible time. Hope the video can lead to some arrests. The more people who see it, the better chance of somebody recognising somebody or even their behavior.

Couple of things to note is that these guys were calm, prepared (boltcutters, concrete to smash windows), knew what they wanted. They have done this before and have either inside information or scoped the place out well as they new they needed boltcutters, new about the sunglasses etc....well planned and confidently executed....Thes ebikes should be identifiable and hopefully Complete have the serial numbers...maybe publish those with pics of each model type?

Simple google hunt in the future might ID some sales.....One thing for sure, it is a helluva good idea to insist on an original invoice when buying a high end bike....If they are clever they will market them in Pta, DBn or even Cape Town....

I know that this might cost some bucks but if it were me I would look at getting a guy like Piet Byleveld involved (his contact details are on the web) and use cellphone tracking OR there are probably specialists in this field that don't even have to leave their desk. I spoke to one such guy a few years ago and he had insiders at cellphone companies that would do it so he could check the info and if he needed to go to court he got a court order and redid the trace legally so as to ensure it was all true and correct........The beauty is that at this time of night it should be possible to isolate(was it 7?) 7 phones arriving and departing various "cells" or towers at that time.....

Done deal!

Had my SRAM wheels trued at CC and James adjusted/sorted my rear derailleur....awesome guys and wish them every success in this thing!!!
