Specialized Ground Control Grid 2.3 in the front and Specialized Fast Track Grid 2.2 or 2.3 in the back - not the lightest but on of the strongest - especially the sidewalls

Spez Purgatory Grid upfront  and Ground Control Grid last year, no punctures. Previous Epic on a Butcher up front and a Fast Track on the rear, one puncture on the Fast Track.

Spez tyres are the best...

My tyre choice would have been the Spez Ground Control 2.3 front and the Fast Track Grid 2.3 at the back. The Grid at the front is a bit of overkill for my riding style as I almost never get front flats.

I think in terms of grip it is very similar to the Vittoria Barzo/Saguaro combo although I have never ridden that combo...

Thanks for the great input! I am quite keen to give the Barzo/Saguaro combo a go. What do you guys think about the width of the front tyre (Barzo)? Is the 2.35 overkill? Or will it be perfect for the rocky and single track sections?

Purgatory and GC are not really XC tyres, are they?

Great tyres but not really suitable for the EPIC or SA hardpack conditions, IMHO.

Currently on Ikon ,Ardent combo .Have used Vittorio saguaro, barzo before and also conti X-king front and back .Conti,s are light and strong ,but leak and i have cut a sidewall or two .Ardent lust in front is a bit heavy ,so is Barzo, but i can live with that .IMO Vittorio combo is the best value currently

Thank you for the replies!

I don't know the Vittorias. It seems like the Barzo (front) and Saguaro (rear) might be a great combo? Any thoughts/experience on the puncture protection of these tyres?

Did a few thousand km on this combo already (including the J2C and the very rocky Gravel & Grape around Worcester) and not a single puncture or sidewall cut.

Must admit, I'm not a very aggressive rider.
