So it was not just me calling it a Kickr-copy ....

It is becoming very difficult to protect R&D and the products flowing from it.  People change one small detail and make profit of your R&D ....

I'd be interested to see exactly what Wahoo's lawsuit is based on. surely it can't be the hardware so maybe its the firmware, but as DC says - ZWIFT is flashing the Jet Black trainers with their own software.

Hi all,

As I understand Zwift will increase (adjust upwards) your FTP if it detects that you outperform your FTP in general riding/racing. But never decrease.

Today I did a workout and 100% of my ftp was lower than I knew it should be. When I look at my ftp, it was decreased. I adjusted it back to what it was (based on my ftp test of 20 June - 4 months ago), but a couple of minutes later. It was back down.

is my understanding correct? Or does zwift adjust (increase or decrease) based on your riding/racing?

thanks!

just started... my first ftp test was a dud. started on the ftp builder program but realized power is not the problem, fitness/stamina is.  they wanted me to empty the tank in full sprint at 310watts. i pushed 550-700 in half hearted sprint.   so Im shelving the ftp builder.  will look for a program to build base and fitness.  Any ideas?  I might just jump over to Xert for a while. They have fantastic programs.

When and where did you notice the change in FTP? During the workout? Do you ride with the companion app? It is possible to adjust it on the fly during a workout via the app or keyboard. As far as I know, Zwift only adjusts it up if you break a 20 minute power record, so it shouldn't drop it unless you changed it manually on the workout selection screen or your profile.

Noticed it on my profile settings. I do use the companion app and did adjust it for the workout.

So our understanding is the same

Since switching from Zwift to Trainerroad my performance in every sphere of cycling has improved. I’m very happy with my switch.

My wife also moved and her FTP is up.

Semi not related question:
Considering a change to Rouvy. Their website indicates a dedicated graphics card as a requirement...why? What affect will a graphics card have on the software when riding normal videos? Anyone knows?

Rouvy has added 3D effects rendered on top of the videos (riders, banners), and in their latest update (Omni mode) for a few courses you can even change the camera angle.

Great - and is the difference between an entry level card vs a more decent one worth the money? I.e. is the difference obvious?

Can't say, honestly. My PC at the trainer has a Nvidia 1060 which is more than powerful enough, but it also runs fine on a few tablets we have, and my dad's reasonably old laptop. So I have not seen it NOT work, or suddenly look terrible.

When I got the Kickr I tried a range of platforms.

Most require decent computers, and the better the graphics card the better the rider experience.

I was using an old pc .... Zwift was the only one to deliver an "okay" experience on this.

a bit of feedback on Mywhoosh, I updated the app last night and boy, they made lots of progress, my laptop, 8GB ram and no dedicated graphics card could run it, it started up much quicker and I just spectated a race last night and everything seemed much faster, will give it a proper whirl soon.
