Everything is pretty much centered around the Boardwalk hotel and Casino.  The expo and registration is there and the transition area for the race is directly opposite.  So will give you an idea of where everything is if you want to be close by

Don't wait too long to book your accommodation, the longer you wait to book, the fewer options you leave yourself. Most spots close to the start are already fully booked for next year.

Hey all... just something I been thinking about, before doing my first ironman I had never cycled 180km and had always been meaning to but you know how it goes with time etc. Anyway, in the last couple of months I been doing Audax rides of 200km's , recommended if you want to do ironman. Not essential but nice to know you have the distance under your belt at least once.

Do you have a family member who can drive going with you?

Last year I stayed at a B&B which was on the corner of the bike leg that takes you away from the coast. I got dropped off at the start and had the 'fan club' waiting for me at the start finish area/hub.

Staying close id awesome if you are alone, but sometimes being away from the hubbub is also good.

I had an amazing stay and being away from the super busy centre of it all was well worth the 15 minute drive to the start.

just under 6 months to go...

Hmm.. not too sure about doing IM anymore.

I am however doing the Eleven Global races at Sun City in 2 weeks time so I'm hoping that stokes the fires again.

Anyone stayed at Humewood Hotel?

I stayed there last e event and made the same booking for 2018,

i took a family room - extremely spacious double + two singles - affordable took it based on price

Old building dont expect the charlton or ritz but what it lacks in hotel stars it makes up for in neatness , friendly stuff and a large although limited selection of buffet breakfast,

only hing i could fault no fridge in rooms - they want to get you to the bar to drink, but staff opened earlier on race morning and ice in bucket loads for the bottles.

Did i mention my room had a bath for that after race crystals - mind you (wife said dont lock door, i did, took me about an hour to summon enough energy to get out of the bath)

Shuttles to race start is there i had no issue, fam had no issue to walk down the odd 3km to start and during day as they tracked me and theres life as its on the route so safety was not a concern , as the bike route doesn't pass there just the run - they walked down as i lapped.

Parking is semi secured - behind chain locks with night time security.

I am taking a break from the full distance.  Maybe when they have re tarred the roads and or changed the route I will reconsider.

Good luck to those who entered.  Hope the weather plays its part.

I just poo'ed a little

Yeah. I also did when I realised how much time has passed. My longest ride to date has only been 72km, and longest run has been 11km. I could probably get in the training before then, but I don't really want to. Considering I came in with zero base, I am happy with doing this in 2019. Will rather focus more on EL and Durban. Also moving away from MPG, as I decided I wanted to do more social training. Signed up with Troisport as I already train with some of their club members.

Happy training. I am hyperventilating for you guys ;)
