Jan was 70th with Stuart Marais 2 places behind.

Can't help but wonder who would fund these guys. No disrespect intended, they're obviously class athletes, but that's a very expensive trip for a sponsor with virtually zero exposure.

Is the course the same length for the U23 as it is for the elites?

I ask this as if they are, the U23 women would have smashed the Elites by a country mile!

When is Specialized going to realize their tyres are shiiite? Or more importantly, will Koolharvey throw his toys and tell them to wake up and start produce quality rubber and not import from chinese condom manufacturers?

Marrot is definitely someone to watch for the future

The riders can of course choose to ride tyres with the Grid casing sidewalls. Way better than the thin sidewalls control casing tyres. But they don't....

I don't about about Stuart but Jan did it the hard way - scrounged for product sponsors in SA but is mostly self funded.

Tough luck yesterday for Hatherly. Chap was leading the under 23 race when he went off track during a descent and got marking tape melted onto his rear rotor. Lost lots of time riding with no rear brake to the pits and getting a new rear wheel. Ended up in the 30's.

All that aside, he looks like he might just set the under 23 field alight. One to watch for the future.
