[Event] Stellenbosch Mountain Bike Challenge

Dirtopia MTB Events

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I've just come down with a nasty viral infection and won't be able to do the event this weekend :'( I was about to get into my car to go change my route from the 50km to the 15km but there is no way I can even drive in this state. Off the bike for a few weeks now...

That said, my entry is up for donation to someone who will make good use of it.

I bought an Amarider Trail tag so I don't know if I keep that or what what.

Anyways, give me a call if you want to take my entry and change the route etc.

I'm one of the slow guys, will be lucky if I do it in under 5 hours.

I saw the fly by at Worcester MTB and we were in and around each other for most of the way until you dropped me. Abdul Raof Ryklief

LOL - and there I was thinking I was going pull that nice little pace line you guys pitched up with. Next thing I saw you all dropped back so I figured the wind is not going to calm down, might as well nail it to the end.

None of that shenanigans this weekend.  :whistling:

Did the 50km for a bit of fun. What stood out as interesting is that after joining the short route, little kids riding on their own seem to know what is going on around them and are really cute. Actually, little kids riding with their parents are also cute and generally observant. But the parents and older folk... Totally oblivious.

I opened one eye at the time I would have had to get up to go ride if i was able bodied. I would have rolled over if I was able to.

One thing about not riding is that the days seem much longer. Signing up for hydro therapy next week... does that make me a triathlete I wonder?

That's like asking if taking the bus qualifies you as a coach?

Hey .... you remember where i started with mtb? Surely the equivalent of paddling in the shallow end with waterwings on? Now look at me .... flat on my ass with busted bones!

I'll have you know as a younger man I ran 14 marathons in total. Admittedly "run" may be a generous descriptor of my pace but the point is with a few sessions at the medi clinic pool i'll be on my way to a half iron man. After all I've already got the steel in my bones....

Every year the Dirtopia results is a mess. It is quite obvious that the first 3 riders in the 42km results would not have been able to ride that race at that speed. Unless they rode e-bikes and did not tell the organisers.
