Thank you for all feedback.

The product is very similar to that being sold at CWC right now, main differences are in the fasteners and according to the product spec sheet, the clamp has a rubber insert and not plastic.

I guess if I am going to make it enticing to anyone that knows something, I will have to negotiate my price down to bring it in at a lower price point.

I got the Parktool pcs-10 a couple of years ago and am really glad I did. It's one of those things that you just buy once.

Where did you buy it ?

as you rightly say - some things you only buy once  (if you buy proper)

I think I got it from Sportsworld at the time. Their site is down at the moment so I can't check, but I see it is in stock at Buycycle (https://www.buycycle.co.za/workshop/repair-stands/park-tool-pcs-10-home-mechanic-repair-stand/).

The pcs-9 at Evobikes also worth a look (https://www.evobikes.co.za/components/tools/park-tool-home-mechanic-repair-stand.html).

Also got that Parktool stand two years ago, it seem like it will last for ever. Pricey but worth it.

Had a some material left over from other projects .... wanted to play a bit .... this is the end result :

Pivots from the rafters -

It folds down into a tri-pod configuration for stability -

I wanted to try something different .... so the clamp gets attached to the bike, while the bike is standing on the ground -

Now the bike is lifted up, and the pipe slipped into the stand -

The bike can be rotated 360-degrees.  I typically use a strap and hook to hold it horizontal, and to keep the steering straight -

The next step was to add a tool-tray -

Pros -

I have access from all around the bike.

The bike can be tilted at different angles as the job may require

The bracket can also be rotated along the horizontal plane if needed.

NOTHING on the floor to trip over ...

Cons -

The tray and clamp-bracket is stored separately.

cant wash muddy bikes inside the garage ... will get a cheap stand to use outside for this, must get one that can handle different size bikes ....  :whistling:

not for the rider that wants a stand that can be taken with for multi day events.

GLAD I did this.

Check the link in a post of mine earlier in the threat. At current exchange rates the PSC9 is almost half the price at CRC than that on Evobikes website. Free shipping if you are willing to use SAPO. I did, only extra bit to the CRC price per website is 15.4% VaT and import gross up. No duties.

Bought a PCS-9 soon after I arrived in Germany.  After I had to send in one of the kid's bike for a small repair I realised this kite aint gonna fly with 6 bicycles in the house and knew from now on I have to do all the repairs myself.  First thing I bought was the PCS-9 and was worth every cent.

I had one of those CWC ones, poor quality with a poor clamp, had one of my bikes fall when using it.. Not suitable for heavier bikes in my opinion. Got the PCS 10 and o couldn't be happier.

With 7 bikes in our fleet, you are always busy doing something on them, from chain cleaning, brake pads, BB service etc etc and after being the cheapskate for quite some time, I buckled down and bought the PCS10 with optional tool tray from CRC, and compared to my previous TorkCraft stand, I can honestly say that apart from the TorkCraft being lighter and slightly easier to fold up, there is no other comparison. As others have said, worth every cent! If you are going to use the stand a lot, get the best quality you can afford........

I have a "cheapie" (TorkCraft). Going for its third year now.

Use it quite a lot - work mainly self on my bikes.(I own 5 carbon bikes myself, with 11 bikes in total, if you count hole family's bikes.

Clamp works flawlessly. First time, every time. No issues.

Very easy to fold up and down.

Takes very little space to store once fold down.

Bike very secure when clamped.

Friend of mine has a PCS-9. Think they are overpriced. Not even something to keep the bars straight while bike is hanging? (but guess some other overpriced blue gadget will be available for that job...lol). Also like the TorkCraft platform on which it stands more. Much more adjustable / secure when spread widely open on 4 ground contact points.

Not even sure of current ZAR price for PCS-9 stands, but prefer my TorkCraft above it.

My TotkCraft stand is from the very first ones CWC sold. Can it be that the quality of the first batches were perhaps better than the later ones?...

Tork - R880 - http://shop.technopro.co.za/tork-craft-bicycle-repair-work-storage-stand-compact-bike-p-17787.html

ParkTool PC9 - R 2 300 - https://www.evobikes.co.za/park-tool-home-mechanic-repair-stand.html

and that is without the steer-rod and tool tray of the R880 Tork ....

EDIT - The CWC unit comes with a tool tray and steer-rod.... so very much the same as the Tork unit ... but it sells for R599.
