Braai julle mense nie meer nie?

 

(guilty of this myself the last while...)

Was just thinking today that maybe I should do a braai on Sunday, or next Sunday, we'll see.

Lamb tjops only for well heeled people these days.

 

My wife tells me they now R140/kg. And I can tell you it takes a lot to get her to bypass the lamb at the meat counter. She was born in Calvinia.

I did angel fish on the braai yesterday with this recipe. Came out really lekker.

Ja, I've decided that I'm only going to braai twice a month, or at least once a month. I was very impressed with the lamb braai chops from Karoo Kitchen - it's quality meat and it works out a better deal than the lamb chops at Checkers.

Ja, sadly. Largely depends where you get them, but it's duur. As is steak....

Whats your guys take on the smokers gooing their stompies in the braai?

On Friday we had a braai at work. I made the braai and did most of the braaiing(because I don't trust anyone here with my meat) We all clubbed in and one oke went to buy a some meat(various animals and cuts). I was still busy braaing and one guy rocks up and chucks his stompie in the coals. I didn't loose it with him but we did have a few words. I was not happy and I let him know. He claims I am the first to complain and he's been smoking since a school boy. 

I have no issue with someone smoking but don't do it near me or my braai!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a smoker, who's trying to kick the habit, but even I don't gooi stompies in the braai. It's just not done.

If I want my meat smoked then it'll be my choice, not some idiot throwing things in my braai.

Socially unacceptable, period.

 

Find an ashtray but not the fire food is being prepared on.

I have these nice long s/steel skewers that I use when doing a "coil" of wors. Use two of them to skewer through the coil with and creating a cross....this holds it all together and lets you turn the whole coil easily ... it seems to also help keep in moisture ... give it a spin.

 

If you use wood/bamboo skewers give them a good soak in water first.
