MoreTrails Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 seriously now back on to topic,,,myles apologies (i know you accept them) why is the field so small for the event? again serious question I saw a few video clips and I see its not the first rodeo ? so why so few entrants ,,,,costs,,location, Perhaps guys are nervous to enter? Who knows. We are all a special kind of special that entered.Field was almost doubled from last year, so the interest is growing.Enduro field in general in CT area is not massive....but, again, its growing quickly
DIPSLICK Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 I see what you did therespeaking of green creatures under bridges
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted October 17, 2017 Author Posted October 17, 2017 seriously now back on to topic,,,myles apologies (i know you accept them) why is the field so small for the event? again serious question I saw a few video clips and I see its not the first rodeo ? so why so few entrants ,,,,costs,,location, that field is actually very good for this type of event. The WP Enduro series has on average seen about 70 or so entrants per event, from what I recall. Some not even hitting that level. It's growing every year though, and this is NOT your average marathon event, where the route is all nice and pampered. I;m not sure how many people would be too many, but I think there would be a level where it becomes too much to handle. And as MoreTrails said - we're a special kinda special.
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted October 17, 2017 Author Posted October 17, 2017 Pics from the weekend.http://esphotography.co.za/race_gallery.php @Myles & TEA Ladies it was an awesome day out. Massive thank you for pushing me along. How's the tramacet hangover?
nigelhicks Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 great writeup Myles. those course stickers were classic .... "beer" at the end ... hahaha
fabes Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 im talking more like FUNgaalens, but its called FUN gaalens because there a casual weekend ride is only an average of 1500m so def not vert. braHave you ever tried doing that with a motorbike helmut?
Escapee.. Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 This sounds a lot like those private school prize giving evenings.. We are all winners
Rocket-Boy Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 As for exercises - climbing (rock) is a good one. As are bodyweight exercises to failure and beyond. Need to look into it more though. You just brought memories of forearm pain flooding back...Man rock climbing used to wreck you with lactic acid.
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted October 17, 2017 Author Posted October 17, 2017 Will you fetch me at the airport? kinda sorta out the way.... but okay
Donovan Le Cok Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 The event was incredible, I loved it. To get an idea of what the riding is like. The video is not mine.
PhilipV Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 And Theo Erlangsen missed a turn on St1, meaning he didn't get a time for stages 1 or 2. He also had a mechanical (blown tyre) on st4 just before I started down, so DNF'd. Boerie blew his tyre PROPERLY on the liaison to stage 4. DNF. Had to walk off the mountain... THAT must have been a test of character... Well, if he blew a tyre on Liasion 4 he was being sort of stupid, or extremely unlucky. no reason for heroics or taking risks there. There was guys riding over the rock drops sans helmet on liasion 4. That was just stupid. Oh, the lady that did Ezel as her first enduro was Kim Webb, on an iRideAfrica rental stompie. She was the one that radio'd for a lift for Adam to get home after breaking his bar. He still had to walk far though.

We heard the tyre blow. Bead was stuffed. Not even a tube and cable tie could hold it. Possibly a latent defect in the tyre, causing it to unseat properly. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen catastrophic bead failure

'hey Adam, what pressure do you run your handlebars at?'..... half a bar.... Or people asking to see his Cthree bar... Yeah, I saw a lot of eedjits riding the liaison sonder helmet. But then I have never been known for my great decisions 100% of the time so I wasn't about to mother/berate them.
