If you do not have the skill set to ride a particular section on a trail DO NOT - DO NOT go and alter the section of the trail (unless it is dangerous) by removing the offending object.

Certain sections need skill to ride and if you do not have it either get off your bike and walk the section or better still turn around go back and try ride it again (think about your technique) keep on trying till you get it. That way you learn and improve your skills.

Not all sections are meant to be ride-able by all riders. I look forward to difficult sections planning and preparing well in advance for a particular obstacle/s.

Go and do a skills clinic and your riding pleasure increases  by leaps and bounds. Read up about riding techniques. Go to Youtube - learn.

Altering a section of track/trail is ten times worse than dragging your rear wheel through a corner or berm (a total no-no).

One of my favourite rides in Tokai is Boulders - then someone removed a rock or two in the rock garden and now a root in the last corner going up - RUINED !! Boulders is not meant to be a freeway.

That last corner required thought.

If the single tracks are toooo bumpy or rocky stay on the service roads  they need no skills.

RANT off !!

Trails are graded and should fit that grade. You need to work at the skills and progress it can't all be berm, berm, berm. If you don't like the trail features then just don't ride it, please don't change it out. Personally I've spent many hours trying to nail this corner or that drop over and over again until I can. You get so much more progression failing and trying again than blasting through smooth tracks and checking how many PB's you beat on that last run.

I'm with you here.'Dumbing it down' happens all too often. I've always enjoyed the challenge of that last corner ascending boulders.

That said, boulders used to be a great trail. Post fire its the one bit of tokai trail that I don't really enjoy anymore. All the others are as good or better than they were before.

There's that and then what the guys have done on the spruit just below Marks Park in the forest. They've added jumps which are not possible unless on a jump or dh bike. Pisses me off that it's on a line that's been around for years. Must say I was tempted to remove some of them

I thought the same thing going up that corner this weekend.  It's no longer a challenge at all, just a corner.  Before the fire that corner was always extremely difficult and took a lot of careful line choice and body weight shifting to get up and over the roots - it was hard and I loved it.  It's not the same now...

I think your species went the other way... if you hurry you can catch them.

Pleease don't drag your rear wheel through/round the corners.

Rode Bridle Path or Switchbacks today in Tokai and the turns of the lower half of the trail is badly rutted to the extent that it will be un-ridable in two weeks time if it carries on at this rate. Has been fine up to now but this looks like deliberate braking. Winter and rain is very far off and weekday riding is going to increase the traffic.

I have given up. Everyone wants manicured highways these days and the cant even ride these. So I just go ride elsewhere. This is coming from someone that is so k@k bang these days.

You only become comfortable with fitness and practice. At the moment I lack both so I can understand now why some people do this, but it does get my back up.

What! The corner on boulders has been butchered?! That was and has always been rad.

I noticed the massive highway to the left of the rock garden last time I was there. Before the fire some dudes had built a cheat trail on the other side, so meh... You can still ride the rocks but it is annoying.

I was also quite surprised by the trail 'maintenance' done on the cecilia stretch of the cork tree trail. That little entrance/exit onto Rhodes drive used to be very rideable both ways, now it's a wheelchair ramp.

What a chop you are.

You are probably one of those oke's that remove these "obstacles" from the trails, to make them ride able for you....
