What does CSA do for you?

There are a number of threads on TheHub bashing the CSA - and rightly so.  At this point they deserve nothing less.

To answer the OP question:  you are getting very little for you money - possibly nothing at all in fact.

But instead of a bitching session blaming them, is it not possible for us to start asking questions on how to vote them out or effect change in some other manner?

Are there cycling club presidents/managers on TheHub?  They interact with the CSA - perhaps they know if/when an AGM takes place?

Do we have any friends/colleagues/relatives that would serve in accordance with our expectations on the CSA board if given the chance?

Are there any Elon Musks on TheHub that could bankroll an alternative body to rival the CSA (while at the same time meeting the legal obligations of a National body)

Could the PPA perhaps take over CSA function (this may be out of the frying pan into the fire alternative though :-) )

There must be something we can do except moan?

Might be that this administrative body has certain goals with regards to development ect. With no subsidy from goverment ?

So the "average joe cyclist" like us will fund these goals.

So i dont think we should expect too much back?

I think you are partly right.

So, in my mind, the CSA is supposed to do the following (among other things):

*Promote Cycling in the country (all forms from road through to track)

*Support development of cycling by funding developing cyclists

*Support our national cycling teams

*Support and develop road safety with regards to cycling

Bearing in mind there is ZERO financial support from national government , the money has to come from us, the average cyclist, to accomplish these goals.

I have absolutely no problem paying my R75 or R250 (or more) if the above was happening.  I don't expect anything more for this amount.  But the above isn't happening.  So, like I said on another thread, I suspect all I'm paying for at the moment is towards somebodies motor plan...

Uhm ja ....

As a "fun rider" I fail to see what CSA does "for me" ....  The events I ride were arranged and managed by the "farmers/race organisers" - I gladly pay their fee - they WORKED for it.

IRKS me if I am then forced to pay a CSA fee as well !!

where ?

Would be GOOD if some hubbers and serious riders could pitch and get elected .... change from within and all that ....

moaning from the outside has never achieved much

If you want to race licenaed you have to give these clowns money. A lovely monopolistic company that takes takes takes and does very little.

When they changed from SACF to CSA we were excited and there was some progress then slowly they become the same old crap SAFC. Good times.
