Maritz is LOVING this board ....

Perfect match for that bike for sure. šŸ
Ā

Its still the wrong shade of green for mine to match up nicely but ill take it nonetheless.

I also think they need to upgrade from using ā€œMSPaintā€ so they can progress a bit, their design skills seem to be stuck in the 80s like their newsletter banterā˜ŗļø.Ā

If they didnt hate me iā€™d offer to do it for a yearly membership as payment. Imagine a nice bespoke neutral bike board each year that you didn't loath for spoiling your meticulously curated color scheme on your bike. One can only dreamā€¦ Ā

But itā€™s still better than the awful beige pink maroon mess that was this years board šŸ˜…

So im happyā€¦sortof .

Orderedā€¦in the hope of bagging my racing numbers (55) šŸ˜

Lets see if im allowed to join this year though haha.

I may just find my board on Maritz's bike .... PERFECT colour match

Ā

Ā

Naaah ... no hate.Ā  These are just normal, no... NICE, humans doing a thankless job so 10 000 people can have a jol..šŸ‘

Ā

PLEASE pop in and offer your services ...

Ā

My guess .... the board designs are becoming tricky, as so many clubs now use the same or very similar silhoet ..... it now boils down to recognising a basic colour scheme at a distance ....

Ā

With the ever growing number of clubs, and boards, it must get interesting to ensure no duplication.

Ā

Ā

Time to go get some trail dust on those new boards .... I'm outa hereĀ šŸ‘

Memberships expire at the end of each calender year (31 Dec), BUT the month of January is granted for renewals still. Thus you can still use your 2022 board, if required, till end of January 2023.Ā

Cool thanks that's what I thought. I don't really see a world where I'm not going to renew sometime during the year but this year I only rode the trails like 5 times, my wife maybe once, so didn't really use the family membership enough to justify renewing it just yet. Let's see how 2023 goes

Bought my 1st Tygerberg Trails board last week, and rode the same dayā€¦.

was VERY impressed by 4 things:

1. The EASY procedure to buy it

2. the lekker, easy collection procedure at the Protea hotel

3. the 25-30 dedicated Park n Ride bays at selfsame Prota hotel - clever!

4. at 60 years, I got a SERIOUS Seniors discount, a win all round!

had a great ride x2 at Dā€™Aria, Bloemendal, etc, nice riding area!

Anyone know how technical the Black Rhino climb is at Conties? And do you need to do any black rated downhill sections to get there?Ā

Ā

Never been to Conties before but was hoping to try it this weekend. Obviously want to do supertubes, cheeky corners etc, skip the black rated trails but I love a lekker steep climb to get the lungs open.Ā

Ā

I will be on a hardtail so yeah, if itā€™s just steep then fine. Is is similar to Dorstberg climb or more technical?

It's not comparable to the Dorstberg climb. It is much steeper. The rocky bit on Dorstberg is techy, but the Contermans mast climb is properly steep.

If you want the lungs to pop, go up there to the top. If you are black trail averse then you'll have to descend the same way you came up, but the trail down from there on the revised enduro line is very much doable on a HT, but you do need to at least walk it first before attempting it. Same is true for the two Rhino's. You can do them on a HT but you need proper commitment and some skill in riding over rocks on steep descending terrain. Apart from that the line is awesome.

the climb connects to the mast climb, so you don't have to go down the techy trails, you can just follow the fire road to the top of supertubes?

if you want to get back to the top, to do a 2nd lap of Supertubes that climb is steep AF. doable but as the other have stated lose & rocky, will test your track stand skills, your low cadence & your high cadence at the same time, dont be surprised if you grind to a halt and have to walk a short distance where it flattens out to remount. Dorsberg doesnt compare. I have also not been to Meerendal in ages either,
