He was the best run to watch. Watched some in interviews with him recently opening up about the mindset of leaving the WC DH scene. Shame he's an honest oke about it & seems to be hating it but kudos to SC & others for keeping him funded. Seems like he's loving life now filming, riding & not overly serious about the EWS.

R.Atherton looked to be on a serious run coming in 3rd with a snapped chain & a crash to be 1 second behind 2nd place.

go listen to that pod cast ( can't remember the name ) like 90mins but it gives some damn good in sight on his life

The vitalmtb podcast with Cathy Sessler also shed some light for me.

He is quite a delicate little flower, with lots of talent.

But it's similar to Manon, you can't go all out if your head isn't in the game.

So who will it be this weekend? Seems like there is an air of unpredictability this season - Gwin is looking ominous but not unbeatable. The new boys and their awful 29ers are doing better and better.

Really hard to say. Some dark horses this season.

Smart money will still be on Gwin, but Shaw, Vergier, Pierron and Bruni are all candidates for the top step of the podium.

I'm not a fanboy, but I'll always put my money on Gwin. He's a consistent performer, and seems to win on almost any track. The times he doesn't win, his timing on the splits were usually fastest before crashing, puncturing or having some form of bad luck.

I am not so sure it is all down to bad luck. He said, and it has been said of him, that he takes the straightest line .... sometimes that line is just simply not the right line for the bike/equipment to survive ... or at times the rider to hold on.

There will always be some form of risk involved with line choices. Bad luck or [mis]calculated risk; Much of a muchness when you're contending for the top position.

What I thought was a tear-off being removed, was actually a one-hander. Pretty darn impressive at that pace, on that jump, with that pressure.

My favourite gal in the ladies field. Her emotion was palpable.

She did a one hander last race too... Seems her and mich Hannah both have a little race tradition going. Hope it doesn't come back to bite he

Hang on a minute. Didn't you always have a mouthful about what a 'slapgat' he is or was that Stretch?

Was me.... Annoyed me that when he needed to be a little bit pro he lost interest and decided he would rather be with the lads... Lost all respect for him... And then he came up with some excuse about the carbon footprint of world cup traveling only to post a pic of him and the lads in LA (a flight) standing next to a 3l Ford! Twat!

watched it last night...got one spoiler that tahnee had won but other than that knew nothing.

Think it would have been an interesting tight finish if Myrian hadnt crashed and Rachel's chain didnt break...but such is racing.....chuffed for Tahnee

Mens race was all over the place - that Wallace dude put up a scorcher of a time. Would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Luca shaw didnt flat or gwinn didnt got otb....but such is racing

Pre race everyone on PB was bitching about getting rid of the the section of the race that differentiates the riders ...the woods section...looks like they were proven wrong....what a leveller!

Feels like a bit of a lottery this year. The young guys are fast but also not as consistent as say a Gwin or Minnaar yet.

Its a far easier choice in the women's ... you will get good points if you have one of the top 4 or 5 in your team.

I think Gwin and Rachel are hot favourites for Leogang  but cant bring myself to wangle them into my teams for the league...
