Not sure if it is something in the setup or the way cavendish sprints but this is not the first chain slip at a major race sprint.

Someone had the comment quite long ago "and out pops this cheeky Manx monkey to snatch the win" which I thought was a nice and relevant turn of phrase; even now. Great result, a DQ would have been terrible.

Luke & G (Watts Occurring) were talking about Cavendish's longevity. He has competed against people that have come and gone, as well as the current generation:

Okay, not all are out-and-out sprinters, but he's beaten them all, and I'msure some have beaten him too, so they're good enough to be labelled as a "sprinter":
