I was doing an early ride one morning and this dude comes flying past me at 5.20am. I ended up chatting to him and he said he was late for his morning "club" ride.

The rules of the "club" is that should you be more than 5 minutes late they call your partner (not you) and tell them to to tell you that you're late.

I hate hate hate getting up early. Often questioning my love for cycling.

But the alarm needs to be as late as possible,so i can squeeze out every last minute.

And wake up in a panic and get up straight away, coz if I don’t, I ain’t getting up.

Having said that, I can get ready in 20/25min including breakfast & coffee and every else.

On the bike ready to go. Unlike my riding buddy who needs an hr to contemplate life before even getting of the edge of the bed.

Sounds like me (except for riding buddy...when I train I do so alone, much faster).

Set alarm and get up.  I try to stick to a routine and I normally then actually start to wake up about 5 min prior to the alarm going off.  In that case I will stay in bed till the alarm goes off.

I've never needed an alarm to get up.., even though I still use one for in case.. My body clock has always pretty spot on.

I don't dawdle, when I'm up ..I'm up and I start getting getting ready (and contemplating life)

or, that's how things used to be.

With a toddler and 1 month old, I now don't sleep at all and get ready when they allow me to.

Set alarm for 30 min before I have to get up and listen to Cat Stevens in 30 sec bursts every 5min (snooze is a bad thing)..eventually get my butt out of bed when hubby leaves for work at 6am..when he is late I am screwed..

Option 1 is me and 2 is the wife...the problem is that I am then awake while she just turns round and sleeps further for another 4 snoozes.

I wake up an hour before my alarm goes off. This is true for my normal day (7am alarm, so I wake at 6), if I'm riding with friends (5:45 alarm, so I wake at 4:45), if I have a race (4am alarm....you get the picture). So I guess it works in a way. Yes I know what the logical solution is but I have not yet had the balls to set it an hour after I need to be up: the consequences of missing a race/work/ride with friends are all severe.

I am one of those odd creatures that can't sleep through an alarm, set it for the time I have to wake up, it goes off and I just get up.

I have started with a bit of a morning ritual, which includes making coffee and spending some time with the SO before work. So alarm goes off at 05h30, coffee etc finished by 06h00, leave for work at 06h30.
