How much would that bike retail for, there must be something wrong with it, maybe the frame has been cracked and repaired, for it to be that cheap if its not a scam?

Already plenty alarm bells going off from the name cristian and that he’s also from Bellville nogals....straight giveaway right there ( how do they say, “come to Bellville and CY”?). <— insert ninja emoji + comic sans...

The first and most important rule when buying or selling something on the hub from/to a newby is to get confirmation from known hubbers that the newby is legid - ask fellow hubbers if they know the newby and/or to sniff around a bit.

Three days of negotiating with him is a bit of a long ride. Luckily he didn’t take you on a ride where it hurts. Simple as that.

The day the scammers perfect their Grammar . . . we're in real trouble.

;-)

Judging by the number caught....we are in trouble already

Cant believe how gullible some are

In all walks of life people get "caught up in the moment" when what they think is an unmissable opportunity comes along.

The whole field of Sales relies on it pretty heavily.

As gullible as some are, these guys are getting good. Even had scammers contact me for my wanted ads. Pretty convincing, he just didn't offer me what I wanted. Must say Admin was on top of it and warmed me that scammers had viewed my ad, gave me names etc

So that was a proper Friday Fred. TBH if you carried on trying to get a bike after he spiked you the extra R5K then I'm amazed. I would have told him to take the ad down, stick it back up and play gamble that 95% of the hub know exactly the price of the bikes that have come and gone in the last 4 weeks and can smell a rat / gouge then offered R5k off his new price and done the negotiation on the comments.

I can also see the sellers point. CWC is in the badlands. I live in the Southern suburbs and would have to drive past about 10 bike shops to get to that part of the dark side. In fact anything I buy there is shipped down here because it can take 15 minute or 2 hours to get there depending on how the khaki massive are feeling and what time of the day it is. Not only that but you have to dodge with willowbridge women who lunch as well as the Ranger driving construction / insurance / farmer guys as they seem to be doing nothing and just looking for a mooi sandwich with half a cow on it and chow it as they drive aimlessly with an 170mm Enduro bike on the back of their ride for what is an XC trail network of berm love.

Just to pivot on the subject. I have this great tea cup and just looking for a storm to make it all worth while here.
