The mine shaft from the other way is a longer and more difficult climb...

pffft, its not that steep and over in a flash.

Going up Jan Smuts and cedar and steyn city will be much more taxing...

Step 1... don't post the route map on your website before the big announcement

We had an open book exam where you could even take your laptop in.

The lecturer accidentally uploaded the Memo beforehand on the intranet, I assume he deleted it "immediately", but my timing was perfect and I downloaded it. Nobody else knew about it. Shared it with only two friends and we committed to make deliberate mistakes to not arouse suspicions.

Needless to say we did very well in that test.

Still want to have a beer with that lecturer and inform him one day.

Jou M

How can you take away the best section from the top of Jan Smuts down past the Zoo dodging manholes through Rosebank and Saxonwold and all the way down to Randburg hill.Voet in die hoek stuff

Summit Rd to the finish will be predominantly downhill ....

On the tandem  way better than Steyn City .

the drag from the jukskei dip up to kyalami and then on to Kyalami and then the balance of that shitkid hill is going to be the last real bump before the end.

But the early climbs will have broken up the bunches so the groups will be smaller vs previous years. That makes things a bit safer

Agreed for the earlier groups...but the bottleneck might come later the day when the "once-off" riders and Charity groups get to that part...like 13h00-15h00 in the afternoon...

...and the STRONG guys that mostly ride MTB and don't have a seeding and start in the last 3-5 groups and want to get a sub-3

Don't forget the Double lappers coming through for their 2nd bite of the cherry, could get very interesting very quickly. Personally I am skipping the 2nd lap this year, going all-in on the first lap!

So when are they planning a reverse for the Cape Town Cycle tour, ok tongue in cheek seeing that they would want to open the M3 and upper freeways sooner

People simply can't keep a secret any more.

I have a secret, and won’t say anything (yet).

Luckily very old people are more likely to forget.

I have not been close to that "FAST" for a double lap   and have not even thought of that, you are 100% correct...

The 2017 (recent) route had Witkoppen, Malibongwe, Cedar Rd, Steyn City & River Sands as the bite in the tail.... So I cannot see how much more R55 (Main Rd) and Mine Shaft will be worse?

The bit of the R55 before we turn left into Summit (after WP8) might be a bit of a climb, but I do not believe it can be worse than going through Steyn City?
