Thinking about give the premium account a try?

im interested in the setting goals section but just wondering if anyone uses it and what benefits you have derived from it?

If you don't like Strava thats fine, you don't have to comment

Nope not for me, there much better software/apps for monitoring training and performance.

Strava is a just a social media portal for me for keeping and eye on mates training and vice versa

The Strava Premium feature I use often is the virtual partner / live segments. I use it a lot on my regular training routes, always knowing exactly where you are compared to previous/other efforts can be very motivating on solo rides to push yourself harder. (You do need a proper Garmin for this though)

The other bells & whistles, statistical analysis not really worth it imo

I think for what you pay for, it's reasonable.  I would more than likely upgrade to Training Peaks premium once my Strava Premium expires only because my workout plan is getting sent to me there.

I like using the fitness and freshness on Strava, it's helpful to see how fatigued I am, and it's relatively accurate when my performance isn't quite what I expected.

A new thing that's shown up in the last couple of months is a feature where it shows my training load and compares it to previous weeks - I've only seen this on the app though.

I also used a training program on Strava a while back for indoor cycling and was nice since it was free.

And like Skubarra said, the option to see how you improve over sections is really beneficial and motivating to see how you're improving.

The goal setting is a nice to do in the beginning of the year, but come now (in July) I'm starting to feel that I was over zealous with my predictions, although you can update it.

No. Their live tracking is spotty, and only worked maybe 30% of the time for me. Their fitness tracking is very rudimentary and does not track training stress score, which is more important than an absolute fitness number. It is however far cheaper than TrainingPeaks, so you get what you pay for I guess.

I am actually not even using Strava anymore. I think it is a distraction once you start training more seriously. My coach holds me accountable on TrainingPeaks.

I used to use Fittrack quite a lot but that has since also stopped getting the Zwift and Strava workouts and sometimes only days later gets the updates. So pretty useless also. Seriously considering a full Training Peaks account.

I have used live tracking over a whole range of segments, never had an issue with it being "spotty"

Nah.

If you are going to spend money on a fitness tracking/programming software spend it on TrainingPeaks.

Continue to use the free strava version for segments KOMs etc.

Strava-free offers so much as it is, and with Stravastix and an app like Golden Cheetah (also free) can get you everything you need. The free one gives too much to make the paid version worth it... used it for a year, and all I got was depressed when using live segments on my Garmin
