With 2020 being an olympic year I wonder if Nino will skip the Epic next year...

Scott SRAM's contract to ride the Epic is finished after the 2019 event. Might not see them next year

I speak under correction but I am not sure Nino has ever done the Epic in an Olympic year.

And if Annika wants to have a go at the Olympics she will also not do it...

Nino, Sam, Gaze, Henrique Avancini, Maya Wrrgwntv3utv4, Annika Langvad, Anna van der Breggen, Adelheid Morath even Alan Hatherly and Matt Beers .

2020 probably the best chance for Karl to get 6 or a SA pairing to perform really well on GC.

Might actually make for some interesting partnership and races, wonder if it will have any impact on the entry fee/price money

I see what you did there :)

as sure as death and taxes the price money will go up. Prize money is another story.

Or as per contract or info requested by Spez they asked him to be please be there due to media and the likes showing support to the team and riders.

My bad. I did not see things in that light, and made a presumptuous call, which was out of line now that I reread what I regurgitated. Thanks for calling me out on my bad judgement.

(I am trying to be a better person, and that was a momentary lapse of reason)

No problem but I wasn't calling you out, honestly. We all open to our own views / thoughts etc. His history doesn't do him any favors either.

However, there is always another view or similar things related to any type of situation or environment and at his level his contract will not just be race and nothing else. They have a lot of off bike responsibilities that have to be fulfilled in a calendar year.

I am presuming this was one of them and have to give him credit for being there when I am sure he knows he get some abuse on SM from people.

I know you weren't calling me out, lol, but I take it as such. I really want to be a better version of me, and thus, to achieve this, I will take responsibility for stupid things I say or do. And yes, especially on SM it is too easy to make passing judgement without necessarily considering all the angles.

(also, I am the LAST person to comment on anyone's ability...)

Thanks for putting things in perspective. As an armchair / keyboard ref, one tends to have a very narrow perspective of what is required from an athlete. Off bike duties never crossed my horizon view until now.

SM is way to easy, I was 150% guilty of many many times in the passed. 1st guy to admit it. Only once I was attached to something personally and knew 100% why or what I realised how wrong I was or how wrong people are. Perfect example is Fabio Aru, he was battling last 2yrs, you read some insane comments and have your own thoughts. Now by pure chance I am luck I guess to know the real facts and they very far removed from what is being shouted on SM.

So now I just STFU unless I actually know the info.

No it's not. If you want to perform at Olympics you don't do epic in same year. Its just how it is. Contracts are 9/10 times negotiated like that.

Nino is a 1% difference but I don't see him doing Epic next year and once he wins Olympics (perfect world) I see him calling it a day for 2021.

You recon he will cal it a day?  I think he has so much more to offer, always thought you might see him on the road as well, he's such a competitor, and actually quite young if you look at Sauser and the ages at which he's won events.

But the way Nino goes at it, with a family, maybe he will do just that.  Going to be interesting to keep an eye on that prediction.  Maybe he would want to win 6 Epics and have that record as well ;-)
