The ribs are the worst injury I’ve ever had I think........no visible damage with plenty miscomfort

oh yes.

I can attest to this, CURRENTLY. do not go anywhere that will induce a sneeze!

am putting on an adventure race next month and in scouting a bike section over the weekend  i wasn't following the road the whole time. Front wheel went into a porcupine burrow on a slight downhill. was totally winded, but just had to keep on trucking (and then went for a 3 hour paddle later too)

when i woke up yesterday and in yawning, my rib cage popped. doc confirms it's just fractured ribs and must just chill out for 6 weeks.

this is how the bike ended up, with thr back wheel still spinning. as if waiting for a wheel change!

have also fractured both scaphoids...that is a sucky long term recovery in my experience

Mine happened on the MTB, went up the gorge from Silverstar Casino, along the ridge and back down without any problems even though its technical.

Next section was an open dirt road, moving at about 30km/h and somehow I touched handelbars with somebody..............still had to ride 30km back !

Eish, rib injuries suck! Serious discomfort - couldn't sleep on my left side or stomach for about 4 months - good luck.

Three pins after left femoral neck fracture on mtb. Had to walk 1.5k to the bottom of trail in garden route bike park using bike as crutch.

A year ago now. No pain.

I had an "applecore" injury once.

Brake lever went into my thigh. pics did not do the amount of pain justice!

Three stitches at Ceres private hospital, the logical partner of everything that happens at eselfontein!

This has the makings of its own thread.....

picked someone up with my right arm (utterly dronkies, both of us) with my drink in my left hand, and rotated on my left leg. Snap crackle pop. Turned out that even though the rest of the dance floor was covered in liquid (lots of ppl with drinks) I was on a part that wasn't. Foot stayed put, knee buckled. I saved the drink and the other person.

Cracked my ribs thrice. The first time was the worst. 6 months of doing fokol. Couldn't even watch comedies during that time. Laughter hurt too much. Suppose I can't complain compared to some of these injuries. The other thing I can never brace myself for is the pain I will feel when they pop back dislocated fingers. Yoh.

One of the problems with broken ribs is that you don't breath correctly, and fluids start building up.

This can lead to lung infections etc. My physio gave me a surgical glove and said blow it up once every 2 hours, as far as possible without feeling like someone is stabbing you....

of all the accidents motor car...motor bike and bicycle...the worse was the M4...that accident just seem to go on and on...it must have taken a couple of seconds...but the sounds we experienced and not knowing if you are gona be hit...or what is actually going on behind you...not being able to see what is coming at you...trying to stay focused on keeping your line so that you dont drop the group...and not a scratch...yet it has left the biggest scar.

it i could go back in time...one accident i wish i could erase...doing a front flip with my daughter sitting on the crossbar...she has lost total trust...will not even go for a ride with me on a motor bike...the sad thing is she is the first and only passenger i have fallen with...at the slowest speed ever.

I watched a car T bone the passenger door where i was sitting as we reversed out of a driveway...3 times over the top of motor cars...twice on a motor bike and once on a bicycle.

head on collision with another motor bike...clutch lever through my arm.

hit a steel pole with the right side of my body (GPZ 1100)...which left my right arm bust for around 2 years...still not right but it works...hectic bruising from head to toe.

lots of minor off road motor bike mishaps...riding a yz 490 ...was more than i could handle...which resulted in few painful experiences.

been a quite a few bicycle mishaps...most recent the tree jumped out and dropped me to the ground...still trying to get over it...the worse part is there are only like 3 minor tattoos from the chain ring...light pins and needles in the right side of my face...I feel fine while doing normal daily routines....yet  i cant push myself...it is so frustrating...at least with broken bones etc...you know you out the for a period of time.

from all my accident experiences...one thing i have learnt is dont hit anything...as soon as you make contact with a tree...barrier...pole etc...you gona hurt or break parts.

a bit of road rash can be cleaned up and heals quick...only when you take the skin off the palm of your hands or your finger and toes nails come off that it gets flippen eeeina.
