Also, I think it absolutely has an effect on motorists; especially when changing lanes where you now have to check two lanes for traffic (One with lines for cars and another created by motorbikes with no lines) before changing lanes instead of 1.

What?

Trying to squeeze your way through traffic is dangerous and annoying, wait like everybody else

I thought the point of riding a motorbike in traffic was so that you didn’t have to wait like everyone else.

You sound like one of those okes who see you in their wing mirror coming down the left side in a long lane of stopped traffic and quickly move a bit forward and left to try and stop you going past.

But why would you be coming past down the left? Are you a taxi driver by any chance, because then it is fine.

Last week I did a ride on one of Indonesia's busy tourist islands. I never felt safer on the road despite traffic being absolutely chaotic with scooters, cars, trucks and pedestrians all operating in unison.

I had about 100kms to contemplate why I felt safer in the Bali chaos than on any road in S.A.

For me it boils down to respect for other road users and a thorough understanding of their right to be on the road.

I am so disgusted that I come back to S.A and have to ask whether it is safe to ride my bike in the cradle????

When next in Paris grab a bike and cycle through the City. You don't even need a helmet, just make sure you don't post any pics here.

Everyone is sick of it, including me. The same thread every week on he hub isn't gonna change anything.

Oh yeah, was going to lane split on my bike tomorrow but now that I read how it irritates other drivers I'm gonna wait my turn like the cars have to.

Plus am going to avoid making rude gestures to other people in the traffic, even when another lane splitter splits the lane that Im already splitting with another splitter......

Hub postings change stuff all the time.

And I blocked a Taxi coming down the left hand shoulder and then tried to push infront of me. Felt so good looking back in my mirror and seeing him still trying to cut in, and the other cars not allowing him.

Man, I'm on a high!!!!!!!  :whistling:
