J Wakefield Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Monday's .. this weird ass Tuesday rest day has everyone confused. Goes back to normal after this rest day but then makes it also shorter to the next which by looking at the week seems like a good call!

Frosty Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 If it weren't for WvA winning I think the award for the 2 dumbest moves so far in TDF2019 would have gone to EF and LNJ. The pink boys fluffing that attack up spectacularly and then the absolutely ridiculous decision the call Bennet back to load him with bidons amounting to the same weight as him, not only was it atrocious timing but why do you get a GC favorite to do domestique work. WTAF????????? Not a brain cell between them. Both those decisions wouldn't have come from the riders, they were riding under instruction from the DS. Lekker to sit in the car and make your riders look like amateurs. In all fairness, Kruijswijk is the leader for LNJ and not Bennett. The TTT put Bennett in 4th place, and some good riding on the only mountain stage - he is probably the "loyal lieutenant" to Kruijswijk.

"The radios were a bit sketchy and we all got our wires crossed. I ended up going back to get bottles, which was really weird. I don't really know why I was going back but I was under the impression I needed to get them, but the boys didn't even need them. The team car was also confused," - George Bennett.
NotSoBigBen Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 A rest day so I guess time for the journos to look for something .... https://www.cyclingweekly.com/news/racing/tour-de-france/questions-raised-use-ketone-miracle-drink-tour-de-france-431463/amp?__twitter_impression=true *Must check Dischem for that 'ketone' powder later today*
Vetplant Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 https://twitter.com/Eurosport_UK/status/1151221125524971520 Sorry for the guys and gals that don't have twitter. Matt Stevens chatting to Alex Dowsett after he just finished a stage: MS: "What are the first things you do after a stage?" AD: "Firstly, you upload your ride to Strava. If it's not on @Strava you may as well not have done it!"

The problem is you have to pre load for a good period before it works and the once you come off it, you need a period to return to normal. It is legal so nothing dodge about it but not a simple "put in the bottle for the Engen ride on Tuesday and smash the ones"

If you read up on the topic you also see it is way more safe and efficient to be in nutritional ketosis(where your body produces the ketones along with a bunch of other important goodies) instead of using supplements to get there artificially by ingesting the chemically constructed kentones. Long story short, the 'ol Tim Noakes diet is our best bet to get lean AND get your ketone levels up. The theory is your body then runs on the fats and ketones for a greater proportion of your "race", at higher and higher intensities, thus your glycogen stores are left more intact to be called upon in those really intense efforts near the end. Long story short: Get your diet right.(Sorry)
