Another flat one today....

At least tomorrow we get a CAT 1 climb with 25km To Go, mountains are coming....

Works for me, a perfect day for flying and missing the live coverage.

This is the first time I'm watching pro cycling properly and I have to say I am blown away by how many horrible crashes there are. Has there been a stage without one so far apart from the TTs? How do theae guys get in the saddle each day knowing that therw will probably be at least one crash?

And why are there so many? Is the drive and pressure to win causing them to take more risks? Has it always been like this?

Camapaerts' bike crashed to the ground in Sunday's TT.  :whistling:

Wonder if Ackermann will start today?

He looked a bit banged up after yesterdays crash.

They indicated no injuries just skin missing.

I am sure it will be a bit sore though.

I'd say it used to be even worse!

Indeed, the sprinting in particular is today more "civilised". There used to be this fearsome sprinter with the great name of Djamolidine Abdoujaparv aka The Tashkenk Terror"" who caused the most spectacular crashes one can imagine. There is probably no place for someone as reckless as him in cycling today but he was very entertaining :)

Why? it's been allowed by CSA since last year

The bikes(disk brake) have been around for longer though. Patch and I have been in VA races where the CSA tannies have pulled up along side the group and shouted at a rider to stop racing because of his disk brakes.

so todays route in text

start ----------------------------------------~--------------------------finish

snooze fest. reckon the conti teams will get in a break and the peleton will just let them go till about 20/30km left.

the boys from andronni/bardiani/nippofantini probably already got their plans laid out....

So Gibbons I believe was the leadout man for Nizzolo? Yet he pipped him to the line...

So many questions...

Yes, they stuffed it up at the end with Nizzolo being too far back instead of on Gibbons' wheel. Gibbons then seemed to hesitate.

Anyway, now it is up to O'Connor. He had quite a good time trial (17th overall ) but crashed yesterday so i just hope he is fully recovered when the going gets tough.

There’ll be some small chainring action tomorrow ????

Roughly 9 kms with 9 % gradient, the Montoso will be very intense with about 30 mins to he white chalk.

Don’t blink ????

There’ll be desperate attacks trying to get seconds back on Roggas ⚠️

Yes, plenty of people have kept their powder dry and this is their first opportunity to use it in anger on a real climb.... But Roglic has also kept quiet, so look out for him to possibly launch an attack, even if it is just to see where his rivals are at. 25km drop to the finish means allot of it will come back together though, maybe a split between two groups of GC contenders at best.

Ryan was also boxed in against the barriers, I believe he had more speed left in him but it just didn't open up... They should tell both the DD sprinters to just freelance and go for it, Nizollo is doing good but he doesn't have the speed to come around his leadout man and go for the win, he just hovers at that position when launched, although it must be very difficult at that level to make any impact.
