HOPE the cyclist makes a speady recovery !

EDIT - Glad his family was found. And I HOPE his friends and family ID him in time to get him to a private hospital .....

and YES - please have ID information on your bike\person.  On the back of our Tygerberg boards I have included ALL the relevant information ...

I saw a lone cyclist head out that way earlier today at the R27 Bigbay intersection. He was not wearing a helmet. I commented on how stupid he was to do that, and on that road.

I pray it was not the same guy, but I have a serious suspicion it is him. Bike looks familiar.

I'm assume that 99.9% of riders have a phone with them ??

(Which could get stolen and be of no use)

Sterkte to the rider - heal up - looks like an old toppie like me which makes healing take longer - eich!

For that type of trauma, Groote Schuur or Tygerberg is one of the best hospitals to be taken to. Great doctors, and he will be triaged quickly.

It's for the aftercare where you want to be in a private hospital.

I'd love to agree but patient load is so high ct waiting times are often unreasonable. Private ER like N1 sorts you out quick and gets you to urgent surgery the quickest.

Memory loss directly after an accident is frightening. I've had it twice.

I carry my phone with "Wendy" as my ICE number. The phone isn't password protected so anyone who finds me can use it in an emergency.

I'm happy to say that phone theft in that situation is highly unlikely here. If someone finds you, they will do the right thing.

Thanks.

I stand corrected then.

Newish Iphones you can save emergency contact in health and when you press lock button 5 times the details pop up and you can set it to even autodial the number..

Not sure how android works..

An iphone wouldn't be much use in a crash...... IF (a big if) it survived the fall, the battery would probably die before anyone managed to press the button 5 times
