How was that little post race discussion between Pierron and Vergier? Yes!! I was thinking the exact same thing.. Someone had to give him some slaps in the face and tell him his mom was ugly, because his final time was about the same as his Quali time, Which to me means he just rode within himself. The post race discussion.. I saw that, before someone grabbed Pierron by the shoulder. Must have said, you bloody French with your, ratatata, ba - ba - ba.. get your ass over here for the interview. Must say theres a bunch of seasoned pros, still capable of winning, like Gwinn, Hart, Greg?, now Troy, Bruni and Pierron are probably a part of that group, and the disrubutors with bright talent, Vergier, Walker, Iles, Shaw the sport is in bloody amazing shape right now, I cant see it getting much better competition wise.

But in all seriousness, is it possible that the guys at that level don't pay attention to these routine sections and one small twitch ends it all on a relatively simple straightaway?AG was lucky not to land on his bad ankle and to miss that rock.....he'll be back, I'm sure!

DieselnDust Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Well, in this case it's true. Not every surface is JUST tar or JUST rock or JUST pebbles. Little bits of detritus fall / form on top of the substrate, rock, etc etc and the rain washes them away. The soil gets damp and the loose stone on top sink in to the soil, giving a less squiggly surface than the loose stuff would have been in the dry. Moon dust clumps together to form a slightly better base for grip, until it doesn't. Wet roots, though, are death-logs. except in the case of the FW DH WC the rain was falling heavily and it was soaking wet and muddy, not a gentle sprinkle to settle the dust.Do youself a favour and buy a ticket to go and watch that race live next year. It'll give you a whole new appreciation for just how treacherous that course is in the dry and then when the afternoon rain comes through (and it will) see if you can walk up or down that course without slipping and banging yourself black and blue.(don't chicken out and use the cable cars)What you're talking about is more true for the less steep forest section of the course, and then still only for a limited time.
