Very sad, a remarkable man and a remarkable plane ,but each flight in Draco was a test flight

At least he has a nice parts bin to build scrappy out of......

I suspect Scrappy will be an entirely different animal with no shared DNA :)

Scrappy is based on a Carbon Cub I believe, but with that huge piston race engine. Maybe he should extend the nose again and hang that turbine from the Draco parts bin out front!

That enlarged, high lift wing Draco ended up with was meant to provide massive lift, and it worked.

But I suspect that it must have contributed to the plane taking MP for a ride. Once the wings had air moving over them asymmetrically, one generating lift and the other not, Draco was stuffed.

As MP said (and the video insert of the crash also showed), he felt like Draco was like a kite taken by the wind.

The first flight I took in the 38 years I have been on earth was amazing.

Thanks for the group for giving me an idea on what to expect. The return flight was a little bumpy.

But something that was a stunning experience.

Awesome picture, the world looks so different when viewed from above.

I always try for a window seat for that very reason - to see what I can see. That and not being bothered by those with weak bladders.

Every once in a while you get a real "unique" sight - like flying directly over the caldera of the Mt St. Helens volcano and the ash/mud run-out from its last big eruption. I get all excited and everyone else doesn't even notice.

Or the time when our plane was coming in to land at Cairns - hot and humid above full low level cloud cover. I think the plane was forming vapour cones, these acted as a prism and formed a perfect circular rainbow projected around the planes shadow onto the cloud below. I have never seen anything like it, and I really should have tried to get a snap. The effect lasted for maybe 10-15 seconds, and I just thought it best to enjoy the moment.

I took a recording as we landed and lifted off at CPT. Was sad when they switched on the cabin lights. The sights at night was amazing. All the little dots of light at a cruising altitude of 10km was a pleasure to see and made me feel like a little kid spotting all the little towns from above

Many people can learn something incredibly valuable from you Cois - to keep that sense of wonder that we all had as kids! To keep the ability to be awed by amazing things, both big and small.
